Fast forward to June 18, 2023, during Father and Daughter
Road Trip #3, I revisited this iconic attraction alongside my daughter and
friend Mike. On this occasion, the highlight of our journey was exploring the
Nayoro City Hokkoku Museum, conveniently located near the SL Snow Removal
Train. Naturally, we made it part of our itinerary, snapping memorable photos

Nayoro's transformation began in 1891 when it was
established as a strategic hub for northern Hokkaido’s development. The city
became a focal point with the opening of the Soya Main Line on September
3, 1901, and quickly grew as a transportation and cultural center. By the
1970s, steam locomotives were replaced with electric trains, marking the end of
an era. Thankfully, the "Kimaroki" was preserved through a loan from
Japanese National Railways and meticulously restored in October 1975.
