According to Shuzo Yamada, a researcher of the Ainu language, the name could have been derived from “ naye ” or “ nay ” which simply means “river” in the Ainu language. Naie Shrine   Naie Shrine details Founded in 1892 by Munenori Shimizu , a Saitama immigrant, the shrine stands as a testament to the deep connection with his hometown's guardian deity, Hirose Okami .
