Sunday – Mother’s Day Road Trip

Mother's Day Road Trip 2023 |
Today was supposed to be a day spent exploring the towns of Okhotsk Subprefecture, but since it was Mother's Day, my wife took charge and planned our trip. She opted for a shopping trip, and so we drove south to Ishikari City (石狩市) to visit the nearest Costco.

We started our journey at around 9:30 AM and made a quick stop at the Shirogane Falls Parking Area for me to stretch and take some breathtaking photos of the majestic Shirogane Falls. Our next stop was at Ishikari Roadside Station, but we were late, and there were only a handful of vegetables for sale.

We arrived at Second Street Ishikari and then proceeded to COSTCO Ishikari, where we had a great time grocery shopping and enjoying the numerous free tastings they offer. Naturally, we couldn’t miss out on the Costco pizza, which is a family favorite.

We hit the road at around 4:30 PM and stopped by Furusato Park / Hamamasu Furusato Park for me to stretch and play badminton with my daughter. We also enjoyed the beautiful view from the park.
On our way back, we made a stop at the Shirogane Falls Parking Area. The afternoon sunset made the falls even more scenic, and I couldn't resist snapping more photos of it. We then made one last stop at Betsukari in the town of Mashike (増毛町) to watch the gorgeous sunset before reaching home at around 6 PM.

This road trip proved to be incredibly productive as we had the opportunity to revisit Mashike and Ishikari City, two destinations filled with cherished memories. Additionally, we were fortunate enough to celebrate Mother's Day as a family, creating lasting moments that will forever hold a special place in our hearts. The success and joy of this trip have left me eagerly anticipating our next adventure on the open road.
