My family and I visited Kamiyubetsu Tulip Park for the first time on May 28, 2023. It marked my 573rd day in Japan as an ALT under the JET Programme. The tulip park was the highlight of our visit to Yubetsu, and it was also the final stop of our day. Upon arriving, we were informed that it was the last day of the Kamiyubetsu Tulip Fair. Since it was nearly closing time, we were fortunate enough to be granted free admission. While many tulips had already started to wilt, there were still plenty in full bloom. Despite this, we had an unforgettable experience and look forward to the possibility of returning next year.

Getting to Kamiyubetsu Tulip Park

There are several ways to reach Kamiyubetsu Tulip Park, but here's the route I’m most familiar with: From Asahikawa Station, take the Okhotsk-Taisetsu 1 Limited Express Abashiri train and get off at Engaru Station. From there, head to the Engaru bus stop and board the Yubetsu/Monbetsu Line Yubetsu (via Nakayubetsu) bus operated by the Hokkaido Kitami Bus Company. Alight at the Chu-Rippukoen bus stop, and from there, it’s just a short walk to Kamiyubetsu Tulip Park.
