Onsen Facilities
Chippubetsu Onsen Chip Yu & Yu offers a variety of baths where visitors
can soak away their fatigue and stress. The natural hot spring water comes from
Source No. 2, known for its simple hot spring properties—weakly
alkaline, hypotonic, and low in temperature. This spring type is gentle on the
skin and offers numerous health benefits such as easing neuralgia, muscle
and joint pain, fatigue recovery, and promoting overall wellness.

Dine at Restaurant Hamanasu
After a relaxing bath, visit Restaurant Hamanasu,
which serves dishes made from seasonal and locally sourced ingredients
from Chippubetsu Town. One of the must-try specialties is the Green
Neapolitan, a creative twist on a classic pasta dish. This local favorite
features fresh flat noodles made from locally grown broccoli, wheat, and
rice, topped with a rich tomato-based sauce and broccoli from
Chippubetsu, giving it a distinct local flavor you won’t find anywhere
else.
My family and I experienced Chippubetsu Onsen Chip Yu
& Yu for the first time on January 1, 2024, marking my 797th day in Japan as an ALT under the JET Programme. Although we had
visited Chippubetsu several times before as part of our Hokkaido 179 travel goal, our previous trips were always brief, leaving us without the chance
to try the onsen. During one peaceful winter weekend, we finally decided to
soak in its warmth—and were pleasantly surprised by how wonderful the baths
were. It was a truly relaxing experience, and we look forward to visiting again
in the future.
