A Tower with a View
Standing 51.9 meters tall, the Okhotsk Sky Tower offers
visitors stunning panoramic views from its top-floor observation deck, which
sits at a height of 24 meters. From here, you can marvel at the expansive Sea
of Okhotsk and the charming cityscape of Monbetsu. The tower itself is located
at an elevation of 334 meters above sea level, providing a serene vantage point
for photography and sightseeing.

The tower, which opened its doors on April 29, 1994, has
since become a must-visit landmark in Monbetsu. It also consolidated multiple
relay stations, streamlining the transmission of television and FM radio waves,
including those from NHK Kitami Broadcasting Station, HBC, and STV.

Team Nicerio visit Okhotsk Sky Tower
My family and I visited Okhotsk Sky Tower for the first time
last May 28, 2023, during the second day of our Flower Festival Road Trip 2023 as part of our Hokkaido 179 travel goals.
It marked my 573rd day in Japan as an ALT under the JET Programme. Okhotsk Sky
Tower was our first stop in Monbetsu City, and it was a serene experience.
During our visit, we had the entire tower to ourselves, allowing us to fully
enjoy the stunning views in peaceful silence, free from the usual noise of a
crowd.
Okhotsk Sky Tower Admission Fee
It’s FREE to explore the garden around Okhotsk Sky Tower, but
if you plan to head up to the observation deck, you need to pay an entrance
fee:
Adults: 200 yen
Children (elementary and junior high school students):
100 yen
Okhotsk Sky Tower Operating Hours
The Okhotsk Sky Tower is open daily from 10 AM to 9 PM
between April 1 and November 30, and from 10 AM to 6 PM during the winter
months, December 1 to March 31.

Getting to the Okhotsk Sky Tower
The easiest way to reach Okhotsk Sky Tower is by private or
rental car, as there are no buses or trains that go directly to the site.
Alternatively, you can take a taxi from Monbetsu City. For those planning to
walk, be prepared for an uphill trek of about 6 kilometers from the Monbetsu
Bus Terminal.
