Day 672: September 4, 2023

Monday – Rumoi

Rumoi High School 9.4.2023

Good day everyone! It’s the start of my 97th week here in Japan as an ALT under the JET Programme. It’s a cloudy day, it’s a perfect weather bike to work. For today’s work, I’m heading to Rumoi High School.

Here’s my workload for today:

Classes with Matsuda-sensei

1st period – Dear World: Bana’s War @ 1-56 of Matsuda-sensei
2nd period – Reading Training @ 1-34 of Matsuda-sensei
5th period – Reading Training @ 1-56 of Matsuda-sensei
6th period – A Train Driver in Sanriku @ 1-1 of Matsuda-sensei


After the 6th period, we had the English Club. We spent time editing the script and drafts made by our contestants for the competition.

Day 673: September 5, 2023

Tuesday – Rumoi

Rumoi High School 9.5.2023

It’s going to be partially cloudy today and like yesterday, I biked to report for work at Rumoi High School.

I attended the Rumoi English Conversation Club

After work, I headed to Asuka for the Rumoi English Conversation Club. It was free talking so the members and I talked about a lot of things.

Day 674: September 6, 2023

Wednesday – Rumoi

Rumoi High School 9.6.2023

It’s a cloudy Wednesday. Today, I’m reporting to Rumoi High School as I don’t have any visit school schedules for the day. Since it was not sunny, I took the opportunity to ride my bike to work.

Shopping for ingredients at A-COOP Rumoi Lupinus

After finishing work, my wife and I did a quick grocery shopping at A-COOP Rumoi Lupinus to pick up some essential ingredients for our dinner plans.

Later that evening, my daughter and I indulged in a cozy movie night, watching several episodes of the anime series "Parasite: The Maxim." We're only a few episodes away from completing the entire series, and it's been a fantastic bonding experience for us.

Day 675: September 7, 2023

Thursday – Embetsu

Embetsu Agricultural High School 9.7.2023

It’s a beautiful sunny day. Today, I’m heading to Embetsu Agricultural High School for my only business trip this week. This visit is my 12th visit for the school year 2023 – 2024. For this trip, I used my 1-day Moekko Free Ticket. 

Embetsu Shrine

Before reporting for work, I made a quick stop at Embetsu Shrine to offer prayers and pay respects.

6th period – Past Continuous @ 1B of Sasaki-sensei

I was blessed to see a beautiful sunset on my way home to Rumoi City

John Wick: Chapter 4

After dinner, my family and I watched the 2023 action film John Wick: Chapter 4. It was an action-packed 3-hour film. Like the first three films, my wife and I enjoyed it.

Day 676: September 8, 2023

Friday – Rumoi

Rumoi High School 9.8.2023

It’s a sunny day but the temperature didn’t go above 20 degrees. It’s a sign that summer is over and autumn has come. For today’s work, I’m reporting back to Rumoi High School.

1st period – Grammar Course @ 1-34 of Matsuda-sensei
3rd period – Dear World: Bana’s War @ 1-34 of Matsuda-sensei
6th period – Traveling Abroad @ 1-56 of Matsuda-sensei

Root canal at Ebata Dental Clinic

After work, my family and I drove to Ebata Dental Clinic for our dental appointment. Speaking of dental appointments, it's going to be my first ever root canal. 

Throughout this week, I had the pleasure of visiting both Rumoi High School and Embetsu Agricultural High School. It proved to be an exhausting yet immensely rewarding experience. As I reflect on the week that has passed, I eagerly anticipate the opportunities that await me this weekend.
