Weekend 106: November 11 – 12, 2023
Day 740: November 11, 2023
Saturday – Rumoi x First Snow x Pocky Day
It’s officially winter as the first snow fell today, blanketing most of the city. Aside from that, it’s also Pocky Day as November 11th or 11.11 looks like 4 Pocky sticks. It’s not a holiday, though, but merely a marketing ploy for consumers to buy Pockey.

| Pockey Day 11.11 |
Of course, we bought Pockey during our last grocery trip as we didn’t want to miss out on the fun. We didn’t do anything special today, though. We just stayed home and kept warm.

| Movie day - American Underdog: The Kurt Warner Story |
To make the day more interesting and to kill boredom, we watched several movies on Netflix, like the 2021 sports/drama film American Underdog: The Kurt Warner Story and the 2023 Thriller The Killer. Both were good films and were worth watching.

| Good night, Kai! |
Before calling it a day, my daughter begged me if we could watch the new anime series Pluto. Although we only watched one episode, it already got me hooked.
Day 741: November 12, 2023
Sunday – Rumoi x Obira
 |
| Good morning! |
Today was a hectic day filled with tasks and activities. To prepare for the upcoming winter days, we dedicated our time to cleaning and rearranging our rooms at home. It was a necessary step to ensure we were ready for the colder weather ahead.

| Winter is here, it's time to fill up the kerosene tank |
 |
| I headed to Shell Self Rumoi to buy touyu |
Later on, I drove to Shell Self Rumoi to purchase kerosene, also known as touyu (灯油), and refilled our heater. With all the necessary preparations completed, we then took a break and enjoyed a delicious lunch.

In the afternoon, we decided to indulge in the relaxing and rejuvenating experience of the onsen of Yuttarikan, located in the town of Obira (小平町). This wasn't our first visit, as we had already experienced its tranquil waters a few months ago.
Once again, the warmth of the onsen provided the perfect respite from the chilly weather. If I hadn't been responsible for taking care of Kai, I would have surely dozed off in the rest area. Nevertheless, we spent over two hours enjoying the facility before returning home to Rumoi City.
 |
| Quick grocery trip to COOP |
However, our day didn't come to an end just yet. We made a quick stop at COOP to purchase the ingredients for dinner and then headed to Jabba Laundromat to dry our laundry. It was a busy day, but we accomplished everything on our to-do list.
 |
| Thanks, Ella for being an amazing big sister |
Finally, we arrived back home around 8 PM. Despite our initial plan of having a movie night after dinner, the soothing and tranquil atmosphere of the onsen completely relaxed us. Consequently, all we desired was a good night's sleep, making it the perfect way to conclude our 106th weekend here in Japan.
