Saturday – Rumoi

Ella did a good job of fixing the beds
It’s a cool Saturday here in Rumoi City, and since we didn’t have any road trip plans, we allowed ourselves to sleep in until around 10 AM.
Stroll with the Family
Not wanting to spend the whole day indoors, my family and I went for a walk around the neighborhood and also along the banks of the Rumoi River after breakfast. It was a refreshing change of scenery, especially for my wife and son, who had been at home most of the week. We got back around 1 PM, enjoyed some snacks, and decided to spend the rest of the afternoon resting.

Movie night: No One Will Save You
In the evening, my wife cooked our favorite ginataang monggo for dinner. She also prepared chili garlic on the side, which turned out to be the perfect complement to the dish. Before ending the day, we had our usual “last full show.” Tonight’s pick was the 2023 horror-drama film No One Will Save You. It was packed with jump scares and kept us on edge. The ending wasn’t what we expected, but the movie was definitely worth watching.
Day 727: October 29, 2023
Sunday – Mommy’s Birthday (Asahikawa City)

We're on a trip to Asahikawa City to celebrate my wife's birthday
My wife's Birthday Celebration at Toriton Asahikawa
To make the day special, we drove to Asahikawa City, as she requested that we celebrate with lunch at Toriton Asahikawa. Although Toriton is a well-known conveyor belt sushi chain across Hokkaido, it was actually our first time visiting this branch. The sushi did not disappoint. It was fresh, flavorful, and absolutely worth the long drive. We have already promised ourselves that we will come back again.

Ella with Teppen-Kun
After lunch, we headed to AEON Mall West Store. Our first stop was Quick Cut BB on the third floor, where Ella got her haircut. Then we spent a few hours just wandering around the mall, browsing and window shopping.

Can you guess which one is the Boooooo Frappuccino here?

We also ordered my wife's favorite Cinnamon roll
By late afternoon, we felt tired and decided to relax at Starbucks, which is also inside the mall. My wife and daughter ordered their usual Dark Mocha Chip Frappuccino, while I tried the seasonal Boooooo Frappuccino. Honestly, it did not look quite like the poster and tasted more sugary than pumpkin, but I still enjoyed it in the end.

Time to drive back home. Bye for now, AEON Mall West Store
We left Asahikawa around 4:30 PM and made it home safely about an hour later. It was a simple yet meaningful way to celebrate my wife’s special day, and I am grateful we got to spend it together as a family. Here is to more birthdays and more memories in the years to come.
Looking back, it has been a relaxing and memorable weekend. From our peaceful Saturday stroll along the Rumoi River to celebrating my wife’s birthday in Asahikawa with delicious sushi, mall adventures, and sweet treats, it was a weekend full of family, laughter, and little moments that I will always cherish.
