A Stop Filled With Culture and Experiences
One of the highlights of visiting Shikaoi Roadside Station
is its proximity to the Kanda Nissho Memorial Museum of Art, where
visitors can admire the works of Kanda Nissho, a farmer-turned-artist
recognized for his vivid and realistic painting techniques. This makes the
station not only a resting spot but also a hub for cultural appreciation.

Team Nicerio visits Shikaoi Roadside Station
My family and I visited Shikaoi Roadside Station for
the first time on November 3, 2023, marking the start of our three-day Culture
Day Road Trip. It also happened to be my 732nd day in Japan as an ALT under the JET Programme, which made the experience even more
memorable. As part of our ongoing Hokkaido 179 challenge, we make it a
point to stop at every roadside station across Hokkaido, collect their unique
stamps, and try their local specialties. At Shikaoi, we found an abundance of freshly
harvested produce sold at prices much lower than those in typical grocery stores,
making it a rewarding and authentic local experience.
