Nishiokoppe (西興部村) is a village in Hokkaido, Japan, located in the Okhotsk Subprefecture. Located inland in eastern Hokkaido, approximately 90% of the village's land area is covered by forests. The name Nishiokoppe originates from its location west of the town of Okoppe.

1. Take a picture of the Nishiokoppe manhole covers. So far, I have seen two unique manhole covers in the town. It
is common and can be seen anywhere.

2. Visit the Nishiokoppe Shrine (西興部神社), the
main shrine of the town. You can visit at any time of day to offer your prayers
and pay your respects. Aside from that, you can also get a goshuin here for
your collection.

3. Stop by the Nishiokoppe Roadside Station (西興部道の駅),
officially known as Roadside Station Nishiokoppe Kamu (道の駅 にしおこっぺ花夢).
This station features a greenhouse and offers a creamy soft serve that is
highly recommended for visitors.

4. Explore the Kamiokoppe Railway Museum (上興部鉄道資料館), a
former station that has been beautifully preserved and transformed into a
museum showcasing artifacts from the train line's peak era. In addition to the
exhibits inside the station building, visitors can admire a preserved diesel
engine displayed on the rail tracks.

5. Stay at the Nishiokoppe Guesthouse GA Kopper (西興部ゲストハウス
GA.KOPPER), a unique accommodation set in a repurposed school building. Guests
can enjoy a nostalgic experience by sleeping in one of the former classrooms of

6. Take your kids to the Forest Museum Komu (森の美術館 木夢) for

Hotel Rimu (ホテル森夢). It’s one of the best in the region. You have the option to try
the day-trip bath or rent a room and stay overnight. There is also a souvenir
shop and restaurant in the hotel worth checking out.

to explore fascinating exhibits about the village's history. The best part?
Admission is completely free! Simply sign your name in the guest book located

10. Go for a hike and visit the 3 waterfalls of Nishiokoppe, namely Gyoja Falls (行者の滝), Akaiwa Falls (赤岩の滝), and Kuroiwa Falls (黒岩の滝). Although it’s generally safe, you can drive along an unpaved road going to the falls. Don’t forget to bring a bear bell or spray when venturing into the area.
