Day 301: August 29, 2022

Monday – Rumoi

It’s the start of another week as an Assistant Language Teacher here in Hokkaido, Japan. Today, I’m back reporting at Rumoi High School.

I didn’t have any team teaching tasks today because it’s Day 1 of the Preliminary Examinations for the students.


I spent my day studying Japanese using the Visual Learning Japanese (VLJ) course. I also proofread the essays of the contestants for the essay writing contest and the script of those who joined the speech competition. Before going home, I submitted important documents to the Rumoi City Public Health Department Social Welfare Division. 


Day 302: August 30, 2022

Tuesday – Rumoi

It’s the second day of the Preliminary Examinations for the students here at Rumoi High School.

Like yesterday, I didn’t have any team teaching tasks today so I used my free time to study Japanese and also proofread the essays and scripts of those who joined the competitions.

There were hundreds of moths in every corner of Rumoi City


Attended the Rumoi English Chat Club - Topic "My Summer Vacation"

That evening, I attended the Rumoi English Chat Club at Asuka. Our topic for today is “My Summer Vacation”. On my way, I was surprised that there were a lot of moths. It seems like Rumoi City had a moth infestation problem. 


Day 303: August 31, 2022

Wednesday – Embetsu

Today, I’m off to Embetsu Agricultural High School. It’s my 14th visit to the school for the school year 2022-2023. For this trip, I used my 1-day Moekko Free Ticket.

Day 304: September 1, 2022

Thursday – Teshio

Farewell August, and Hello September! To start the month, I’ll be heading to my farthest-visit school which is Teshio High School. It’s my 6th visit for the school year 2022 – 2023. For this trip, I used my 2-day Moekko Free Ticket.

Engan bus ride back to Rumoi City

During the long trip back home, I made the draft for the itineraries for the upcoming back-to-back long weekends. When I got home, my wife helped finish the first one before calling it a day.

Day 305: September 2, 2022

Friday – Teshio

It’s a back-to-back visit to Teshio High School. Today is my 7th visit for the school year 2022-2023. For this trip, I used my 2-day Moekko Free Ticket.

Rumoi City Library

I'm happy to see that Ella is into books.

When I got back home, my family and I drove to the Rumoi City Library so that Ella can borrow books. When we got back home, we watched the Netflix film Day Shift and then continued making the itinerary for the upcoming long weekends this month.

Overall, it was another fulfilling work week. I visited Rumoi High School, Embetsu Agricultural High School, and Teshio High School this week. I'm happy to have been able to help my JTEs with their lessons and also make fun activities for the students. I'm looking forward to what this weekend has to offer.

National Shrine of St. Padre Pio - Batangas

Located in Barangay San Pedro in Sto. Tomas in the province of Batangas, the National Shrine of St. Padre Pio is a pilgrimage site dedicated and inspired by Saint Padre Pio.
