10 Things to Do in Fukagawa City

10 Things to Do in Fukagawa City

Fukagawa (深川市) is a city in the Sorachi Subprefecture of Hokkaido, Japan. The surrounding region was known as Memu, which means "spring pond" in the Ainu language, but the name "Fukagawa" first arose around 1890. (Meiji 23). Fukagawa is a Japanese term that combines the words "deep" (fuka) and "river" (gawa). The Ooho River, which runs through Fukagawa, was dubbed "Ooho nai" by the Ainu people who lived there. "Ooho nai" translates to "deep river" in Japanese.
