Fukagawa Roadside Station – Hokkaido

Fukagawa Roadside Station (道の駅 ライスランドふかがわ) is one of the 128 roadside stations spread across Hokkaido. It is located at 59-7 Hirosato, Otoecho in Fukagawa City, Hokkaido Prefecture, Japan.

Fukagawa Roadside Station details

Fukagawa Roadside Station is officially called Roadside Station Riceland Fukagawa. It follows the theme “Fukagawa, the city of rice”. It is a place where visitors can buy high-quality Fukagawa rice and also a place where visitors can learn about rice and agriculture.

Fukagawa Roadside Station was registered last August 13, 2002, and was given registration number 17.

At present the roadside station has the following amenities:

General Information

It is located right after you enter the front entrance of the roadside station. Motorists can get information about tourist spots, restaurants, public facilities, and even road info and weather conditions here.

Special Product Sales Corner

This is where you can buy the famed Fukagawa rice. There are also other products here that are locally made like the Fukagawa potato chips, Fukagawa cider, uroko dango, and many more.

Rice Quiz Game Corner

This is a popular past of the roadside station, particularly with kids. It is where you can learn about agriculture and rice while playing games.

There are also food shops inside and outside the roadside station like the Onigiri Kappogi, Sendou Roadside Station, and the Taste Sirube Ekitei, Sweets, and Café “F-Club”. These stores sell a variety of food and drinks.

My family and I visited Fukagawa Roadside Station for the first time last August 6, 2022, which was my 278th day here in Japan as an Assistant Language Teacher under the JET Programme. We tried their famed kometchi-monaka before going on our way.

Overall, I like the fact that there were a lot of food stalls in and outside of Fukagawa Roadside Station. It gives passing motorists a variety of food to choose from making it a good place to go food tripping when going on a road trip in the area.

April, May, and October – 9 AM to 6 PM

June – September – 9 AM to 7 PM

November to March – 9 AM to 5 PM

Why visit Fukagawa Roadside Station?

If you’re a rice eater like me, then Fukagawa Roadside Station is for you as the rice sold here is high quality and is sometimes cheaper than those sold in the grocery. Aside from that, it is also a must-visit if you are participating in the Hokkaido Roadside Station Stamp Rally.

Getting to Fukagawa Roadside Station

 

Like any other roadside station, the best way to reach Fukagawa Roadside Station is by private vehicle.

Another alternative is to ride the bus bound for Asahikawa Station from Rumoi City. Board down at Otoebunkiten which is less than 100 meters away from the roadside station.

Located in Barangay San Pedro in Sto. Tomas in the province of Batangas, the National Shrine of St. Padre Pio is a pilgrimage site dedicated and inspired by Saint Padre Pio.
