Eniwa (恵庭市) is a beautiful city in Ishikari Subprefecture of Hokkaido, Japan, named after Mount Eniwa in Shikotsu-Tōya National Park. Its Ainu name, e-en-iwa (エエンイワ), means "sharp mountain." The name was adapted into Japanese ateji as "blessed garden," chosen for its homonyms niwa (庭, "garden") and niwa (二輪, "two rings"). These "two rings" symbolize the Shimamatsu and Izari Rivers flowing through the city, representing the "blessings" (恵) they provide.
