Architecture That Echoes the Past
Teshio-Nakagawa Station boasts two side platforms,
accessible via a level crossing. The west-side station building,
completed in 1953, holds a special place in local history. When Nakagawa
Town assumed ownership from JR Hokkaido in 2014, the building was
lovingly restored using locally grown Japanese cedar, preserving its authentic
atmosphere.

office into the Nakagawa Town Communication Plaza. This multi-purpose
event space now serves as a hub for community engagement, blending history with
modern utility.

Team Nicerio visits Teshio-Nakagawa Station
On July 17, 2023, my daughter and I visited Teshio-Nakagawa
Station, on the last day of our Father and Daughter Road Trip #5. It was
also my 623rd day in Japan as an ALT with the JET Programme. Although we
arrived by car, we were fortunate to witness a train stopping at the station. I
truly admire how the community has preserved the station building in its
original state, resisting modernization. This preservation adds both charm and
historical value to the town. I hope to return someday and experience this
station as a train passenger.
