Team Nicerio visits Usutaibe Senjoiwa Rocks

On July 16, 2023, my daughter and I visited Usutaibe Senjoiwa Rocks for the first time during the second day of our Father and Daughter Road Trip #5, which was my 622nd day in Japan as an ALT under the JET Programme. The special-looking rocks reminded me of Senjojiki in Wakayama Prefecture, but of course, this has its own beauty. We wanted to go down and explore the rock formation, but since it was raining, we decided not to for safety purposes. Regardless, we enjoyed the view from the viewing area. Hopefully, we could revisit in the future to fully appreciate its beauty and, of course, to try camping in its camping grounds.

Usutaibe Senjoiwa Rocks Admission Fee

It’s FREE to explore Usutaibe Senjoiwa Rocks. However, please be careful as it might be slippery. Also, during the winter, the roads to the rocks may be impassable.

Usutaibe Senjoiwa Rocks Operating Hours

Usutaibe Senjoiwa Rocks is open 24/7. However, it is highly recommended that you visit in the morning as the area is not well-lit at night.

Getting to Usutaibe Senjoiwa Rocks

 

The best way to reach Usutaibe Senjoiwa Rocks is by private or rental car, as it is located at the outskirts of the town. 

However, if you plan to go there by public transportation, this is what I'm familiar with.

From Asahikawa Station Platform 8 in Asahikawa City, board the Limited Express Esashi (Esashi - Asahikawa) of the Soya Bus Company going to Esashi Terminal. This line operates once a day.

Fare:

One way - 5,000 yen
Round Trip - 9,000 yen

Once you reach Esashi Terminal, walk for about 2.8 kilometers to reach Usutaibe Senjoiwa Rocks.

Munting Buhangin Beach Camp - Batangas

Located in the municipality of Nasugbu in the province of Batangas, Munting Buhangin Beach Camp is one of the few privately owned resorts in the area that doesn't really require memberships for visitors to enjoy. Mount Batulao Revisited 2019

I first hiked Mt. Batulao three years ago with my co-teachers during one of those long weekends that year . The hike was tiring but very rewarding in terms of the beautiful view from the peak.  Mt. Batulao Mt. Batulao Details: Mt. Batulao stands 811 meters above sea level (MASL). For a well-trained mountaineer, the mountain could be conquered in about an hour and a half or less. However, for leisure hikers like me, it usually takes 2-3 hours to reach the summit. What's nice about this mountain is its straightforward trail perfect for beginners.
