Nakafurano (中富良野町) is a town in the Kamikawa Subprefecture of Hokkaido, Japan. The name of the town is derived from the Ainu word " furanui ", which means smelly mud, rotten mud. This was likely because the area was mostly peatland years ago.

1. Take a picture of the manhole cover of Nakafurano. So far, I have seen one unique manhole cover which is common in the central part of town.

2. Visit the Nakafurano Shrine. You can pay your respects and offer prayers here any time of the day. You can also get a goshuin here.


Hokkaido Landscape Museum

3. Visit the Hokkaido Landscape Museum to appreciate the artworks of Shuichi Okuda. The wooden western-style building that was once a school was used as a filming location for Yoon Seok-ho's Shochiku movie "The Wind in Your Heart".

4. Buy lavender-based products like soaps and perfumes during the lavender season.

5. Visit Tomita Melon House and try their melon products. The fresh Furano melon and melon soft cream are some of the must-try products of Tomita Melon House.

Norokko Train

8. Ride the Norokko Train and board down the seasonal Lavander Farm Station. If you board the train from late June to early August, you will be able to see the beautiful lavender fields.

9. Head up to Hokuseiyama Observation Deck to view the Furano Lavender Fields and Nakafurano Flower Park in early August and be fascinated with the scenery that made Nakafurano famous all around Japan.

10. Visit Farm Tomita from late June to early August and be amazed by the visually stunning colorful lavender fields. Don't forget to try the lavender soft cream or bring home some lavender-scented souvenirs for your loved ones.

Located in Barangay San Pedro in Sto. Tomas in the province of Batangas, the National Shrine of St. Padre Pio is a pilgrimage site dedicated and inspired by Saint Padre Pio. Our adventure today takes us to a mountain south of Metro Manila. Mt. Gulugod Baboy  (other variations Mt. Gulugod-Baboy ) is located in Anilao, Mabini in the province of Batangas.
