Week 117: January 22 – 26, 2024
Day 812: January 22, 2024
Monday – Rumoi
It’s a snowy-5-degree Monday morning. For today’s school visit, I’m off to my usual Monday visit school, Rumoi High School. Unlike last week, when I had a very relaxed, collab-free schedule, I have several collaboration works today. Originally, I had 4 slots reserved early in the morning, but it turns out the first-period 1-1 class was out on a skiing trip today.
Here’s my workload today:
2nd period – Performance Task “Useful Products” @ 1-34 of Matsuda-sensei
4th period – Performance Task “Useful Products” @ 1-56 of Matsuda-sensei
5th period – Performance Task “Useful Products” @ 1-56 of Matsuda-sensei

Rumoi High School English Club meeting
After classes, I had a fun New Year’s activity with the Rumoi High School English Club members. When I got home, I spent my evening completing the files required by Abiva Publishing House before calling it a day.
Day 813: January 23, 2024
Tuesday – Rumoi
Today was like a winter wonderland in Rumoi City. The air was crisp, and everything was covered in a fresh layer of snow, turning ordinary scenes into a magical sight. Returning to Rumoi High School for my usual Tuesday visit felt familiar and comforting. The corridors embraced me with a warmth that contrasted the cold outside.
Here’s my workload for today:
5th period – Lesson 3 Part 1 School Uniform @ 1-56 of Matsuda-sensei
6th period – Continuation of Lesson 3 Part 1 School Uniform @ 1-56 of Matsuda-sensei

After work, I attended our bi-weekly Rumoi English Chat Club held at Asuka. Our topic was “How to Enjoy the Winter”.
Day 814: January 24, 2024
Wednesday – Haboro
It’s another freezing day here in Rumoi Subprefecture. For today’s school visit, I’m heading to Haboro High School. This visit is my 17th for the School Year 2023 – 2024. For this trip, I used my 2-day Skip Moekko Free Ticket.
Here’s my workload today:
3rd period – My Winter Vacation @ 1A of Watanabe-sensei
6th period – My Winter Vacation @ 1B of Watanabe-sensei

When I got home, my wife had prepared ginataang monggo for dinner — a comforting and perfect meal after a long, tiring day.
Day 815: January 25, 2024
Thursday – Embetsu Rumoi

It's -2 degrees today 😓
I’m supposed to go to Embetsu Agricultural High School today, but Engan Bus Company announced that they would cancel the trips north due to the incoming snowstorm. In cases like this, I must report to my main school, Rumoi High School.
Rumoi High School already announced yesterday that classes are suspended today, which meant that I didn’t have any collaboration work today.

Rumoi City Municipal Hospital
I asked a favor from one of my JTEs, Sengoku-sensei, to help me inquire if there is a doctor available today at Rumoi City Municipal Hospital that I can consult about my persistent cough. We left Rumoi High School at around 10:30 AM after filing our nenkyu. I’m very thankful that she was with me, as it made the consultation easier. Thankfully, my lungs were clear, and it was not pneumonia but only allergies plus the changing temperatures. The doctor gave me antiallergy prescriptions, and that’s that.
When I got home, I rested a bit. After that, my family and I watched several episodes of Marry My Husband before calling it a day.
Day 816: January 26, 2024
Friday – Tomamae
TGIF! Thankfully, the blizzard has already passed, and the buses have resumed operations going north. I’m heading to Tomamae Commercial High School for today's school visit. It’s my 24th visit for the School Year 2023 – 2024. For this trip, I used my 2-day Skip Moekko Free Ticket.
Here’s my workload for today:
2nd period – Term Exam @ 3rd year of Matsushita-sensei

Dinner for today: Curry Udon
After classes, Jon, Matsushita-sensei, and I got to hang out inside the ALT Room. We talked about a lot of things, but what I enjoyed was when we talked about dating culture. We all had different views on how to date, and it was fun listening to their perspective and opinions.

Movie night: Napoleon 2023
When I got home, I made sure to bond with my family. Before calling it a day, we watched the 2023 war/action film Napoleon. It was a nice film. I enjoyed the battle scenes and how the director tried his best to portray Napoleon, who was a very controversial figure in French history.
Overall, this week was another cold but productive week. I was able to visit Rumoi High School, Haboro High School, and Tomamae Commercial High School. I also visited Rumoi City Municipal Hospital this week due to persistent coughing. Thankfully, everything was alright.
