Saturday – Fukagawa x Asahikawa Road Trip

Ebata Dental Clinic
The first destination of the day: Ebata Dental Clinic

It’s a beautiful sunny day! Last night, we planned to drive to Asahikawa to do some shopping. However, I have to go to Ebata Dental Clinic first for my dental appointment.

With the dental appointment done, it's time to head out for another road trip.

From there, my wife and daughter picked me up for our trip to Asahikawa City. We first drove to Fukagawa City to visit some places. We went to the Fukagawa City Historical Museum to learn about the history of the city and then to Okuni Shrine to pay our respects.

When we got to Asahikawa City, I asked my wife if we could visit some places where the Japanese drama series First Love was shot. She agreed and we drove to the following places;

Before leaving Asahikawa City, we ate at McDonald’s, which served as our late lunch and early dinner.

We washed Ruru before calling it a day

We reached Rumoi City at around 7:30 PM. We made a brief stopover at Maxvalu Rumoi to buy ingredients for our food for tomorrow’s road trip.

Afterward, we went to the 24-hour coin-operated car wash at Chidoricho for Ruru’s long-deserved cleaning. We didn’t stay up long that night as we have a trip south tomorrow. Please come join us again!

Day 510: March 26, 2023

Sunday – Sapporo x Ishikari Road Trip

Off to another road trip
Off to another road trip

As planned, we woke up at around 5 AM so that we could head out to Sapporo City earlier. However, upon checking the weather forecast, it was said that we should expect an overcast until noon and then rain the whole afternoon until nighttime.

From our place, the trip to Sapporo City takes more than 3 hours. Our first stop for the day was at Makomanai Takino Cemetery. These are the places that we visited there:

From there, we drove to the Sapporo Salmon Museum, a unique destination dedicated to showcasing the fascinating world of salmon. Nestled in the serene Makomanai Park, the museum offers a comprehensive overview of the life cycle, species, and ecological significance of salmon in Japan and beyond.

We then drove to 2nd Street Ishikari in Ishikari City, a popular second-hand store where we planned to shop for more baby clothes. Upon entering the store, we were impressed by its well-organized layout and wide selection of pre-loved items. The baby clothes section was particularly delightful, offering an array of adorable outfits in excellent condition. From cozy onesies to stylish little jackets and colorful accessories, the store had everything we needed at budget-friendly prices.

After that, we headed to Costco Ishikari to apply for a membership and also to buy groceries for my birthday. It was almost 6 PM when we finished grocery shopping. We knew that it would rain but weren’t expecting that it would pour this hard.

Driving back home to Rumoi City
Driving back home to Rumoi City

Our trip home was about three hours, but since we drove slower than usual, it took us around 3 hours and 30 minutes to reach Rumoi City. It was a very tiring drive, even if I was in the passenger seat, as I was on maximum alert for any wildlife that might decide to cross the road. That’s why I fell asleep very early.

Overall, this is the second-to-last weekend that my wife will be allowed to drive here in Japan, as her International Driver’s License expires on April 4. That’s why we discussed one last major trip next weekend. Where? Please stay tuned to find out more! See you guys!
