Exploring Hokkaido - Our Journey Through All 35 Cities in Japan's Northern Frontier

Hokkaido is Japan's northernmost and biggest prefecture. As a result, it's not surprising that it has a lot of municipalities. Hokkaido has 179 municipalities to be exact. As of 2022, 35 of these municipalities are cities.

Since 2019, I've been working on completing the #Japan47 Challenge, and so far, I've visited 16 out of 47 prefectures. But why stop there? Taking on another challenge certainly doesn’t hurt.

Upon discovering that Hokkaido has only 35 cities, I decided to start the #Hokkaido35Cities  Challenge with my family.

The rules for this challenge are straightforward:

  1. Physically visit the city and spend at least an hour exploring it.
  2. Take photos of the city’s manhole cover, including any Pokémon-themed ones if available.
  3. Visit a shrine, preferably the main one, to pay respects and offer a prayer.
  4. Explore or visit at least one of the following: the city hall, a museum, a park, a local restaurant, a local café, a mountain, a monument, or a popular tourist spot.

Everything must be documented with original photos—no copying from the internet allowed!

Casa Hacienda de Tejeros - Cavite

Located in Rosario in the province of Cavite, Casa Hacienda de Tejeros is famously known as the location of the historic Tejeros Convention of 1897. Day 387: November 23, 2022 Wednesday – Labor Thanksgiving Day It’s a very cold but surprisingly sunny day here in Rumoi City ( 留萌市 ). Week 56: November 21 – 25, 2022 Day 385: November 21, 2022 Monday – Rumoi It’s a rainy morning. I was shocked by the news that Jason David Frank died today. He is well-known for his role as Tommy Oliver or simply Green Ranger in the hit show Power Rangers. He would forever be remembered by the 90s kids like me. RIP Green Ranger .
