(Winter Edition)
Toyotomi Hachimangu Shrine was established in 1907. It was said that a wealthy farmer Kano Kusaburo and his younger brother Jigoro Kano from the Kano Clan received a relic from Otokoyama Hachimangu in Kyoto.
After that, with the help of seven volunteers, they founded the Toyotomi Hachimangu Shrine. It started out as a small shrine but through time it slowly improved and was finally moved to its present location midway up the mountain facing Route 40.

Toyotomi Hachimangu Shrine photos
I got to visit Toyotomi Hachimangu Shrine for the first time last March 20, 2022. It was my 20th weekend here in Japan as an ALT under the JET Programme. It was winter when I visited which means that snow covered the ground surrounding the shrine making its distinct blue roof a beautiful white backdrop. Like the other shrines that I have visited this winter, I'm excited to see what this shrine looks like in other seasons, particularly autumn.

I like how the blue roof of the Toyotomi Hachimangu Shrine creates contrast with its surroundings. I bet it looks rad in spring or autumn.
