Japan Diaries 4: Weekend 30

Weekend 30: May 28 - 29, 2022

Day 208 - May 28, 2022

Saturday - Rainy Day in Rumoi

It's another weekend here in Rumoi City. There's a 70% chance of rain today according to the weather forecast and true enough it did. 😢

It's a rainy day in Rumoi

It didn't stop us from going on a walk along the Rumoi River

Regardless, it didn't hinder us from taking a walk on the walking path along the Rumoi River. Although we were wearing raincoats we still got wet but then again that made it memorable.

Photos of our walk along Rumoi River:

From the walking path, we headed back home and spent the day resting. We also got to chat with Injin, our close friend who is now in Spain. Hopefully, when the pandemic is over, we would get to visit her and tour Europe too.

Overall, we are looking forward to better weather tomorrow so that we can take long walks outside.

Day 209 - May 29, 2022

Sunday - Family Day Sunday

Thank God for the beautiful weather today.  After breakfast, we didn't waste time as we head out to explore Rumoi City once again.

We visited the Rumoi River. This time the weather was great

Rumoi River

For our first stop, we returned to the Rumoi River and walked along its walking route. We used the Shinonomecho to Horikawacho route before crossing the Boulevard Bridge to Igarashicho.

From there, we visited the following places:

Takasago Park in Takasagocho

Kishihata Fish Shop near JR Rumoi Station.

Okatteya Moe Gift Shop in Sakaemachi

We then headed towards the Rumoi Michi no Eki or Rumoi Roadside Station. It was about 10 minutes away on foot. It is famous for its soft cream with cones made from locally produced pumpkins so, despite the cold weather, I made my wife and daughter try it out.

Chairumo

The recently opened Rumoi Indoor Exchange / Amusement Facility, better known as Chairumo, is located next to the station. As its name implies, it is an indoor exchange and play space designed to encourage children's active play. This lovely establishment only charges 100 yen for each child (parents are required to accompany their children but is free of charge.)

Sukiya Rumoi

I didn't miss the opportunity to let my daughter experience this play facility and overall it was worth it. After 90 minutes of fun, we walked back home to wrap up our day but before we did, we ate an early dinner at Sukiya.

Overall, it's another weekend well spent with the family. Looking forward to our next weekend!
