First Visit: A Memorable Introduction
My first encounter with Kunimare Sake Brewery was on April 10, 2022, my 160th day in Japan as an ALT under the JET Programme. Accompanied by my ALT friends, we were awestruck by the sheer historical significance of the brewery. Exploring its informative exhibits and indulging in a free sake tasting session made for an unforgettable cultural experience.
Second Visit: A Family Road Trip Highlight
On September 3, 2022, during my 306th day in Japan, I returned to Kunimare Sake Brewery with my family as part of our Mashike Road Trip. This visit was especially heartwarming, as I witnessed my family’s delight in learning about sake production and history. Refilling our water containers with the brewery's fresh spring water was a simple yet memorable moment that added to the charm of the experience.
Third Visit: A Sibling Adventure
Fast forward to July 29, 2023, my 635th day in Japan, I found myself back at Kunimare Sake Brewery during Sibling Road Trip 5, this time with my daughter and siblings. Walking through the brewery’s impressive facilities again felt like reconnecting with an old friend. The brewery’s mini-museum, detailing the intricate sake-making process, remained as captivating as ever.
We couldn’t resist another round of the free sake tasting, where the standout for me was the Junmai Daiginjo. Its delicate balance of smoothness and complexity truly showcases the mastery behind Kunimare’s sake.
