Weekend 94: August 19 – 20, 2023
Day 656: August 19, 2023
Saturday – Asahikawa City
It's another weekend and although it's scorching hot outside, my family and I didn't want to miss the chance to go for a drive. We decided to head to Asahikawa City for today's trip, although it wasn't our typical road adventure. Our main destination was the AEON Mall next to the JR Asahikawa Station.

Our first task of the day was for me to get a haircut. Normally, I would go to the barbershop in the Asahikawa Heiwa Shopping Street, but this time I decided to try Quick Cut BB on the 4th floor of the mall, where they offer a 15-minute haircut for 1400 yen. Surprisingly, despite the quick process, the haircut turned out pretty good. My wife was pleased with the outcome, so I might consider going there again in the future.

| We explored the mall a bit to look for a nice restaurant to eat lunch |
 |
| We ended up in the food court eating food from Pepper Lunch and McDonald's |
Once my haircut was done, we grabbed lunch at the food court, and then it was my wife's turn for a hair appointment. She headed to a salon in Asahikawa Heiwa Shopping Street, while our children, Ella and Kai, and I stayed behind to explore the mall. We spent some time wandering around, checking out different stores, and enjoying the air conditioning.
 |
| We tried the crane game many times but lost. Thankfully, a kind man gave us one of the toys that he won. |
 |
| When we got tired of exploring the mall we just stayed at the rest area near the elevators to wait for my wife |

It took my wife more than two hours to finish her hair appointment, but the wait was worth it. She looked absolutely stunning when she came out of the salon.
 |
| We were blessed with a beautiful sunset scene on our way home |
Before heading home, we made a quick stop to buy groceries. Although we didn't visit any new places today, we felt extremely satisfied with our day as we were able to complete all our tasks. Sometimes, it's the simple things that bring the most joy.
Day 657: August 20, 2023
Sunday – Rumoi
Today started off with a refreshing surprise. It rained until 9 AM, providing the perfect excuse for us to sleep in a little longer. The cool shower also made the morning much more enjoyable.

However, as the day progressed, the weather took a turn for the worse. The humidity was unbearable, with temperatures reaching a scorching 32 degrees. Despite the heat, my wife and I decided to make a quick trip to Maxvalu, as we couldn't find some ingredients during our grocery shopping in Asahikawa yesterday. She was planning to make some delicious snacks for our afternoon trip to Golden Beach Rumoi. |
| I'm proud of Ella's ability to lull Kai to sleep. |
Unfortunately, when we arrived back home, the heat was too intense to venture out again. We decided to take a noontime nap to escape the sweltering weather. Little did we know, we would oversleep. Realizing it was too late to proceed with our plans, we reluctantly decided to cancel our trip. |
| For a change, I prepared today's dinner. I cooked giniling. |
For dinner, I took charge of preparing our meal and cooked a scrumptious dish called giniling. With a satisfied belly, I wrapped up the day by watching a few episodes of my favorite English TV series, "The Last Kingdom". It may not have been the day we originally planned, but sometimes life throws unexpected twists. Tomorrow is a new day, and I'm hopeful for better weather.Overall, it was a very humid weekend. We weren’t able to visit new places today, but we were able to drive to Asahikawa City and do some tasks. Hopefully, the weather will be cooler next week as we don’t want to risk going on a road trip to far places with this kind of sweltering heat.Read more:
