Team Nicerio visits Kyogoku Roadside Station
My family and I visited Kyogoku Roadside
Station for the first time last April 1, 2023, during our 2023 Birthday Road
Trip. It was my 516th day here in Japan as an ALT under the JET Programme. I
always include the roadside station in our itinerary as my daughter and I
collect roadside station stamps. Aside from that, my wife and I also usually
buy local products at roadside stations, which is a highly recommended activity.
Kyogoku Roadside Station Admission Fee
It’s FREE to enter and use some of the
facilities of Kyogoku Roadside Station. Parking is also FREE. However, it is
highly recommended that you bring cash just in case you might want to buy locally produced products.

Getting to Kyogoku Roadside Station
There are multiple ways to get to Kyogoku Roadside Station from Otaru Station, but this is the route I’m most familiar with:
From Otaru Station, walk to the Otaru Eki Mae bus stop and take the Otaru Eki Mae Line (bound for Otaru Eki Mae) operated by the Niseko Bus Company. Get off at the Kosei Byoin Mae bus stop.
From there, transfer to the Kyogoku Line Kimobetsu (via Kyogoku) bus and get off at the Kyogoku Kominkan Mae bus stop. Then, walk approximately 1.5 kilometers to Kyogoku Roadside Station. Alternatively, you can take a taxi for the last stretch, though it may be quite expensive.
Travel time: 2 hours and 12 minutes
Fare: 2070 yen
