On April 2, 2023, the second day of our three-day Birthday Road Trip, my family and I explored Shiribetsu River Ran Ran Park for the first time. It also marked my 517th day in Japan as an ALT under the JET Programme. Located in Rankoshi, this park was our first stop of the day. Although it was late winter during our visit, and most of the park was still blanketed in snow, we were still captivated by its beauty. The view of the Shiribetsu River brought back memories of our trip to Kamikochi years ago. I’m hoping we can return to the park in spring to see the cherry blossoms in full bloom, adding even more charm to the already picturesque surroundings.
