Day 418: December 24, 2022
Saturday – Flight to Osaka
This is Day 1 of our "Winter Vacation 2022-2023". Our day began with a delicious breakfast feast at Sapporo Grand Hotel's Northern Terrace. Of all the dishes there, I zeroed in on the salmon sashimi.![]() |
Our view from our room in Sapporo Grand Hotel |
For me, a hotel in Hokkaido that does not serve fresh sashimi or amaebi for breakfast is not worth the stay. That’s why Sapporo Grand Hotel is now included in my list of hotels to try in Hokkaido.

Hopped on the train bound for New Chitose Airport |
We bought Hokkaido goods at the hotel's The Bakery and Pastry as omiyage for our Japanese family before we checked out. We took the Rapid Express train from JR Sapporo Station to Shin Chitose Station after leaving the Sapporo Grand Hotel and returning to Sapporo Station.
Since we arrived at New Chitose Airport quite early for our 3 PM flight, we stayed near the check-in gates and just burned time using our gadgets. I got to finish about two episodes of the 2nd season of Alice in Borderland. The boarding gates opened around 2 PM.
We boarded flight MM11 and arrived at Kansai International Airport at 5:25 PM. Mr. Toshi, Ms. Taeko, Ms. Sawa, and Karin-chan were there to pick us up.

Before heading home we had dinner at Sakura Coffee Izumisano. The ambiance was superb and the sandwich and coffee there were truly a must-try.

Thank you for the warm welcome. |
Mr. Toshi's son Tako and his family came to see us when we arrived at the Kameyama Residence, and we had a lovely time conversing with them. To welcome our arrival and Christmas Eve, we even had two cakes.
That night before calling it a day, we prepared our luggage for our 3-day Hiroshima Road Trip tomorrow. Well, that’s it for today. See you, tomorrow guys!
