Saturday - Asahikawa City Overnight Trip Day 1

It's a beautiful morning! Last Thursday, we celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary, which was a truly special occasion for us. Unfortunately, work got in the way, and we couldn't enjoy the festivities we had planned. But now, I'm determined to make it up to my beloved wife and create unforgettable memories. So, I organized a carefully planned weekend getaway to Asahikawa City, starting today.

Waiting for the bus going to Asahikawa City

We left Rumoi City via the 7:09AM Engan Bus from Motokawacho bus stop to Asahikawa Station. We arrived at Platform 8 of the Station at around 9AM.

Baggage drop at Hotel Amanek

From Asahikawa Station, we walked to Hotel Amanek which is our accommodation for the day. Lucky for us, they allow bag drops since check-in time is still at 3PM.

Time to explore the city

With no more baggage in tow, we got to explore the city. We visited the following places:
We then headed back to Hotel Amanek to check in but got there a bit early so we decided to eat lunch at Matsuya located at 8 Chome-左1号 2 Jodori.

Went for a haircut at Barber Plage Asahikawa Shopping Park Street Ekimae

After lunch, we checked in and after resting I went for a haircut at Barber Plage Asahikawa Shopping Park Street Ekimae near the hotel.

Time to take a dip in the onsen

When I got back, my wife and I went to AEON Mall Asahikawa to go shopping. I bought an outdoor shoe at Asbee while my wife bought some cooking ingredients at Jupiter. That night, before calling it a day, we used the onsen facility of Hotel Amanek

This is the view from the 16th floor of Hotel Amanek.

Overall, today was exhausting as we walked around a lot but it was totally worth it. You can read the more detailed account of Day 194 by clicking this 👉LINK👈.

Sunday - Asahikawa City Overnight Trip Day 2

It's a beautiful morning here in Asahikawa City

This is it! The last day of our 2-day Asahikawa Overnight Trip. Most people would probably feel sad as it is almost time to go home but in our case, we were actually looking forward to this day because of the buffet meal at Hotel Amanek.

Time for breakfast!

This is my first round for the buffet breakfast

My wife and I actually chose Hotel Amanek not only because it was near Asahikawa Station but also most importantly because of its breakfast buffet.

We left our luggage in a luggage locker at Asahikawa Station

After the sumptuous meal, we checked out of Hotel Amanek. From there, we headed to the baggage locker area of Asahikawa Station to deposit our luggage for safekeeping and also for another hassle-free exploration of the city.

We visited the following places:
  • Mega Don Quixote
Hokuchin Memorial Museum
Hokkaido Gokoku Shrine

We returned to Asahikawa Station at around 4PM and waited for the 5:30PM Engan Bus to Rumoi City.

We boarded the 5:30 Engan Bus to Rumoi

We arrived home at around 7:20PM which officially wraps up our 2-Day Asahikawa City Overnight Trip

Overall, it was an unforgettable day in Asahikawa City, leaving me eager for more adventures in Hokkaido. I dream of exploring numerous enchanting destinations in the region. With 179 municipalities, Hokkaido offers limitless possibilities for exploration. I can't help but imagine the extraordinary experiences we might have as we traverse this remarkable area. Hopefully would be able to visit all 179 municipalities in the future.
