Guests can savor Shihoro Beef, a premium brand of Holstein beef known for its lean, flavorful meat. Raised according to the Shihoro Beef Raising and Management Manual, this beef comes from the town with the largest number of beef cattle in Japan—over 40,000 head, including crossbreds.

The onsen’s restaurant “Belliore” offers fully wheelchair-accessible dining with set menus and yakiniku (grilled meat) courses, perfect for experiencing local flavors. Restaurant hours for day-use guests are 12:00 PM – 3:00 PM (last order 2:30 PM).

Footbath Terrace & Local Products

Relax at the Footbath Terrace, where water flows directly from the source. Open to everyone from 11:00 to 20:00, and exclusively for hotel guests from 5:00 to 10:00, it’s the perfect spot to enjoy the mountain breeze and scenic views of Mount Sakura.

Team Nicerio visits Roadside Station Shihoro Onsen

My family and I visited Roadside Station Shihoro Onsen for the first time on November 3, 2023, kicking off our three-day Culture Day Road Trip. The visit was extra special for me as it also marked my 732nd day in Japan as an ALT under the JET Programme. As part of our ongoing Hokkaido 179 challenge, we make it a point to stop at every roadside station we encounter, collect their unique stamps, and sample local specialties.

At Shihoro Onsen, we enjoyed wandering around its beautiful grounds, soaking in the scenery and fresh Hokkaido air. Unfortunately, we didn’t get the chance to try the onsen itself, as we had several more destinations to explore that day. That just gives us another reason to come back in the future and finally experience its famous hot springs.

Roadside Station Shihoro Onsen Admission Fee

Visiting Roadside Station Shihoro Onsen is completely FREE, so you can explore the grounds without any charge. It’s a good idea to bring some cash, though, even if you don’t plan to use the onsen, in case you want to pick up local products from the specialty shop.
