Stone Sculptures of Aibetsu Rural Park

Another must-see attraction in the park is the stone sculptures of Mr. Nobuya Nakai, a talented sculptor from Aibetsu Town. His stunning stone sculptures can be found throughout the park, providing a fascinating glimpse into local history and culture. As part of the 120th anniversary of the foundation of Aibetsu Town, 12 of his sculptures that were once displayed around Aibetsu were collected and are now maintained in the Aibetsu Rural Park.

This dragon-like art piece is the most noticeable landmark of the park.

Team Nicerio visits Aibetsu Rural Park

My family and I visited
Aibetsu Rural Park for the first time last September 17, 2022, during our 3-day Respect for the Aged Day Road Trip. It was my 320th day in Japan as an ALT under the JET Programme. Honestly, we visited the park so that we could get a good stretch after driving for several hours. However, upon seeing the park, we decided to explore it was good that we did. Hopefully, we get to visit Aibetsu Rural Park again next year during the Aibetsu Mushroom Festival.
