Ai-Land Yubetsu Roadside Station (道の駅 愛ランド湧別) is one of the 128 roadside stations in Hokkaido Prefecture. It is located along Route 238 at 6 Shinadeshiko, in the town of Yubetsu in Hokkaido Prefecture, Japan.

Ai-Land Yubetsu Roadside Station is a popular destination located on a picturesque hill along National Route 238 overlooking Lake Saroma. Established on April 17, 1998, with registration number 52, it has become a beloved stop for travelers and locals alike.

One of the highlights of Ai-Land Yubetsu Roadside Station is the breathtaking view of Lake Saroma from the Ferris wheel. Rising 100 meters above sea level, this Ferris wheel offers a panoramic vista that is simply outstanding. This attraction is just one of the many features of Family Love Land YOU (ファミリー愛ランドYOU), a recreational area within the roadside station. Here, visitors can find a wide variety of playground equipment, including the iconic Ferris wheel, a thrilling go-kart track spanning 800 meters, and 18 different types of playground rides for all ages and preferences.

Family Love Land YOU include the Ferris wheel, the exhilarating Great Poseidon Viking ride, the Chain tower rotating swing, the Paratrooper ride, the Dragon Coaster for adrenaline seekers (with height restrictions), the entertaining Cycle monorail (with height restrictions), the exciting go-karts (with height restrictions), the fun Bumper boat ride (with height restrictions), the Air fighter ride, the exhilarating Long slide (roller slide), the challenging Park golf course (containing 9 holes), the enjoyable Putt putt golf area, and the free Jungle gym for children to play and climb on.

For those yearning to connect with nature, the "Ikoi no Mori" (Forest of Healing) located near the lakeside is the perfect spot. Here, visitors can take a leisurely stroll through the tranquil forest, breathe in the clean air, and indulge in forest bathing while gazing at the mesmerizing vista of Lake Saroma. It is a peaceful escape, allowing visitors to forget about the hectic city life and experience the slow flow of time

Aside from the attractions, Ai-Land Yubetsu Roadside Station offers several amenities for visitors to enjoy. The "YOU shop" is a must-visit store within the station, where visitors can find a range of souvenirs including accessories and small items. One specialty worth trying is the processed scallops, a local delicacy of Yubetsu Town. Additionally, the "Restaurant Saiko" provides a delightful dining experience with table seats that overlook Lake Saroma. Here, visitors can savor regional flavors such as scallop rice bowls and Okhotsk ramen, showcasing the rich culinary heritage of the area.

My family and I visited
 Ai-Land Yubetsu Roadside Station for the first time last September 18, 2022, during our September 17 – 19 Road Trip. It was my 321st day in Japan as an ALT under the JET Programme. I made sure to include the roadside station in our itinerary as my daughter and I are collecting roadside station stamps for the Hokkaido Stamp Rally.

It’s FREE to park and explore the roadside station grounds and also the Family Love Land YOU. However, to use or ride the attractions inside Family Love Land YOU, visitors need to have tickets. The price for those are:

1-day unlimited ride ticket 1,600 yen (3 years old and above)
Coupon ticket Single ticket 100 yen 11 tickets 1,000 yen

I also highly suggest that you bring cash when you visit the roadside station as you might want to buy some souvenirs or local products from the “YOU Shop” or try the scallop rice bowls or Okhotsk ramen from Restaurant Saiko.

Ai-Land Yubetsu Roadside Station is open from 9:30 AM – 5 PM.

It is closed every Monday. However, if Monday is a public holiday, the roadside station will be open but will be closed the following day.
