Japan Diaries 4: Week 2


Week 2: November 8-12, 2021

Day 7: November 8, 2021 

Monday - Rumoi 

It's formally my first Monday as an Assistant Language Teacher (ALT) at Rumoi High School. I was invited to observe several classes today which would also be observed by the Hokkaido Board of Education.

2nd period - Class observation @ 3-2 of Kutsumi-sensei
3rd period - Class observation @ 2-56 of Shiko-sensei
5th period - Jiko shokai class @ 3-12 of Kutsumi-sensei
English Club - Getting to know each other and school tour activity

Day 8: November 9, 2021

Tuesday - Rumoi 

It's another day at Rumoi High School. Today is the first time that I have 4 classes in one day. It was also the first time that I'd be in Sato-sensei's class.

2nd period - Jiko shokai class @ 2-4 of Motoyama-sensei
3rd period - Student introduction activity @ 202 of Motoyama-sensei
6th period - Jiko shokai class @ 3-2 of Kutsumi-sensei

Day 9: November 10, 2021

Wednesday - Rumoi

It's getting colder by the day. Time to wear thicker clothing

It's my third day here at Rumoi High School this week. Today is the first time that I've worked with Shiko-sensei and Hidaka-sensei.

Here's my workload for the day:

1st period - Jiko shokai class @ 2-1 of Motoyama-sensei
3rd period - Jiko shokai class @ 2-34 of Shiko-sensei
4th period - Jiko shokai class @ 1-4 of Hidaka-sensei

Thursday - Rumoi

Walking to school along with Nishi 5 Go dori

The leaves of the trees along Nishi 5 Go dori are all yellow now and are slowly falling one by one. In a way, I feel that autumn is almost over and winter is upon us. In a way, I'm excited about my first winter here in Rumoi City but at the same time very anxious. Anyway, today is my 4th day at Rumoi High School.

Day 11: November 12, 2021

Friday - Rumoi

Last day here in Rumoi High School for this week. It's getting colder too!

Here's my workload for the day:

2nd period - Continuation of Student Introduction Activity @ 202 of Motoyama-sensei
4th period - Speaking Test @ 2-1 of Motoyama-sensei

Dinner for today - Different flavors of onigiri

That sums up my 2nd week as an ALT here in Rumoi City in Hokkaido Prefecture, Japan. All in all, I had 13 contact classes, 2 observation classes, and I club activity this week. I'm happy to share that each of these turned out well. Looking forward to the weekend!

Located in Barangay San Pedro in Sto. Tomas in the province of Batangas, the National Shrine of St. Padre Pio is a pilgrimage site dedicated and inspired by Saint Padre Pio. Our adventure today takes us 457 kilometers northwest of kilometer 0 in Manila. Located in the municipality of Sta.
