Large birds like black kites, sparrowhawks, and goshawks have been said to have lived in Takasu Town when it was still an uninhabited region. The locals gave it the name " Chikappuni ", which means " a place (nest) where a large bird (hawk) lives ." in the Ainu language. It was translated to the kanji 鷹栖 which is read as " Takasu " . Takasu Shrine ( 鷹栖神社 ) is a beautiful and serene place that is worth a visit. Although its name is similar to the nearby town, it is located at 3 Chome Suehiro 8 Jo, Asahikawa City in Hokkaido Prefecture, Japan . Takasu Shrine Takasu Shrine details Takasu Shrine was constructed on June 15, 1893, beside the old Takasu Village Tonaga government office a year after it opened. In 1901, the shrine was moved to its current location, and an application was made for the official name of the shrine. Takasu Shrine - Takasu town, Hokkaido Prefecture It was upgraded to the status of a village shrine and recognized as a Shinsen Heihaku Ryokushin Shrine in 1916. It was then raised to Gosha in 1922.
