Over time,
the dog turned to stone, still gazing out toward the ocean. Some say the rock
resembles a dog howling to the sky, its silhouette standing as a lasting symbol
of loyalty and sorrow along the rugged coast of Furubira.
“Dog God” in Stone
Setakamui Rock rises approximately 80 meters high and is said to resemble a howling dog. Its name comes from the Ainu word Setakamui, meaning "dog god."
