A Letter to 2021

Thank you for the 365 days that we've shared together. It was really a memorable one. Despite the ongoing COVID 19 pandemic, there were numerous blessings and trips that came into my life. I also got to spend the majority of the year with my wife and daughter and to cap off this year, I got to visit Japan again, not as a tourist but as an Assistant Language Teacher in Rumoi City, Hokkaido Prefecture. What a perfect way to end the year.

Let's look back and see what milestones we've crossed and achieved this year.

1. This year, there were 60 published articles (3 articles fewer than last year 😢).

2. I have reached 2.6 million views (That's 400K new views this year).

3. We got a new car - a Nissan Navara. We named it OSAKA.

4. I resigned from PAREF Southridge School where I worked as a Grade School teacher for 13 years.

5. My family and I got fully vaccinated against COVID 19.

6. I got to travel back to Japan late this year as part of the JET Programme.

Speaking of travels, here are the highlights of my travels for each month last year:

Our first trip for the year, went jogging in Vermosa Sports Hub - Imus City, Cavite (Jan 10)

Returned to Vermosa Sports Hub for another weekend jogging/bonding time with the family (Jan 17)

Hiked Mt. Manabu with my wife (her first hike) and with our friends the Chings. (Feb 12)

I visited Talay Falls, Hidden Falls, and Hulugan Falls in Luisiana, Laguna with my cousins. (Feb 13)

Side trip to Lucban for a Pancit Habhab food trip (Feb 13)

We were invited to Teppanya (EVIA) for Chad Ching's birthday (Feb 20)

Road trip to Cuenca, Batangas for an overnight at TJM Tropical Resort (Feb 28-Mar 1)

Cuenca - Taal Road Trip (Feb 28- Mar 1)

I conquered Mt. Batolusong in Tanay, Rizal with the cousins (June 12)

Side Trip: Boso Boso Church - Antipolo City, Rizal (June 12)

Overnight at The Glampbox, Malatandang Beach in Unisan Quezon (June 20-21)

Bicol Road Trip 2021 (July 17 - 29)

Off to Japan as an ALT for the JET Programme (Oct 17)

14 Day quarantine at Keio Plaza Hotel, Shinjuku City, Tokyo (Oct 17 - Nov 1)

Started my life as an Assistant Language Teacher (ALT) in Rumoi City, Hokkaido

Explored different parts of Rumoi City

Walking Tour around Asahikawa City (November 21)

Bonding with ALT and Japanese friends

Year-end trip to Sapporo City

With this, I'm sure 2022 won't disappoint as Japan would surely have a lot to offer. Again, thanks a lot 2021!

Sincerely yours,
Neil Alvin Nicerio
