Food Trip: Sambokojin Yakiniku Smokeless Grill

For those curious about the name Sambokojin, here’s a quick introduction: Sambo-Kojin is a Japanese kami (god) depicted with three faces and two pairs of hands, revered as the God of the Kitchen. Meanwhile, Yakiniku means grilled meat in Japanese, and as for “Smokeless Grill,” the concept is self-explanatory—a modern twist on traditional grilling.

As the saying goes, “Nuff said!”—after all, what more could you need to know about a restaurant named after Sambo-Kojin, the Japanese God of the Kitchen? Just kidding! While the name already promises a divine culinary experience, the real excitement comes from exploring the restaurant itself. Join me as we embark on a food trip at Sambokojin Smokeless Grill, or simply Sambokojin, where you’ll get to savor an extensive buffet of Japanese and Korean dishes, from fresh raw seafood and premium meats to sizzling grilled specialties and delectable cooked meals. It’s a feast for the senses, combining both flavor and fun under one roof.

For those who aren’t familiar, Sambokojin is a buffet restaurant with multiple branches across the Philippines, celebrated for its wide selection of raw, grilled, and cooked Japanese and Korean dishes.

What I particularly enjoy about the restaurant is its layout—specifically at the Southmall branch, though other branches may be similar. The buffet area is centrally located in an oval structure, which helps reduce crowding and ensures that every guest has easy access to all the dishes, allowing everyone a fair chance to sample everything on offer.
