Camara Island - Zambales

Located near the shores of the Barangay Pundaquit in San Antonio in the province of Zambales, Camara Island is a favorite island-hopping destination of the province.

Camara Island

Camara Island Details

Camara Island is about 2 to 3 kilometers off the nearest shore of Pundaquit. The island is no bigger than a professional football field. 4/5 of the island is dominated by a rocky hill while the remaining 1/5 consists of a stretch of 30 to 40 feet of cream-sand beach.

That boatman seems to enjoy the island too...

Camara Island also has a picturesque view of Pundaquit and its mountain

Camara Island is home to a few trees and an occasional flock of seabirds. Its surrounding waters are clean and teeming with marine life which is why it is perfect to go snorkeling in it.

Gotta love the view...

Camara Island also provides a great backdrop for photo shoots and selfies. However, aside from snorkeling and photoshoots, there are only a few things to do on the island (unless you are creative and crazy). Overnight camping is prohibited and so is drinking sessions. If you want to put some excitement on your visit, I suggest you play the modified hide and seek where you hide objects instead of yourself... better yet bring a UNO deck and destroy friendships.

Hmmm this one is nicely stacked

...but this one is better.

Camara Island Boat Rate:

There are no environmental fees to visit the island. However, you need to rent a boat.

Why visit Camara Island?

I got to visit Camara Island with my co-teachers during our group outing. It was the first island destination for our island hopping tour. Like what I have written, we spent our time here doing photo shoots. As for me, admiring the beauty of nature completed my stay on the island. It's a perfect destination if you want to go island hopping in Barangay Pundaquit in Zambales.

Getting to Camara Island:

From Manila, ride a Victory Liner bus going to Iba, Zambales. Tell the conductor to drop you off at San Antonio. From there, transfer to a tricycle and tell the driver to bring you to the resort of your choice in Pundaquit. From the resort, rent a banca that will bring you to the island.
