It's a beautiful Saturday morning! The sky was clear and the sun shone brightly, inviting my family and me to venture outdoors after a week of staying cooped up indoors due to the yellow sand blowing in from China. Eager to make the most of the day, we set aside our chores and embarked on various outdoor tasks and activities.

Our first stop was COOP and then Daiso, where we had a specific mission in mind: to purchase a ball for me to train Ella in the art of catching and throwing. It was a dual purpose, as Ella's school had recently sent her sports skill set stats, revealing that throwing and catching were areas she could improve upon. Armed with the new ball, we looked forward to honing her skills while reveling in some quality playtime.

With our ball in hand, we made our way to Senba Park—a haven for outdoor enthusiasts like us. Ella and I spent the entire afternoon engaged in training drills and play. I couldn't help but feel a surge of pride as I witnessed her progress. Her throw and catch posture had noticeably improved, and her confidence in catching had soared. Moreover, her throws exhibited greater distance and strength. It was a joy to witness her growth firsthand and share in the triumphant moments of her accomplishments.

As the sun began to set, we sought a brief respite and some tasty treats at Rumoi Roadside Station. Indulging in their delectable soft cream, we recharged our energy levels and took a moment to relax amidst the bustling ambiance. The sweet flavors danced on our taste buds, adding an extra touch of delight to our day.

Black Hawk Down
Movie night: Black Hawk Down

To wind down the evening, we decided to revisit the 2001 war film, Black Hawk Down. The gripping storyline and powerful performances captivated our attention, providing a fitting end to an eventful day. As the credits rolled, we couldn't help but reflect on the significance of camaraderie and resilience portrayed in the film.

In retrospect, today was both exhausting and deeply fulfilling. We embraced the sunshine, worked on Ella's skills, relished tasty treats, and shared memorable moments. It was a day filled with growth, laughter, and shared experiences—an exquisite blend of productivity and leisure that made it truly special.

Day 531: April 16, 2023

Sunday – Rest Day

Today's weather took a complete turn from yesterday's sunny skies—it was a rainy day that enveloped our surroundings. With the pitter-patter of raindrops as our backdrop, my family and I found ourselves immersed in various activities throughout the day.

I spent most of my time cleaning the tub.

The morning was dedicated to tackling the household chores that had accumulated during the week. We diligently worked together, tidying up our living space and attending to the tasks at hand. There's a sense of satisfaction that comes from a clean and organized home, and we relish in the simple joys of a productive morning.

For lunch, my wife delighted our taste buds by preparing our favorite bibimbap. The flavors transported us back to the Philippines, where we would often indulge in this dish during festive celebrations. Nostalgia mingled with every bite, evoking cherished memories and reminding us of the cultural connections we hold dear.

Originally, we had planned to visit the Rumoi City Library. However, the inclement weather dashed our hopes of venturing outside. Instead, we decided to stay at home and indulge in a movie marathon. Our choice for the day was the 2016 South Korean zombie flick, Train to Busan. Despite having watched it countless times before, the film still managed to captivate our attention, leaving us on the edge of our seats as if it were our first viewing. It was a thrilling and memorable cinematic experience shared among loved ones.

After the movie, I seized the opportunity to dedicate the remaining hours to updating my blog. With pen in hand and fingers dancing across the keyboard, I poured my thoughts onto the digital canvas. By day's end, I had managed to write eight articles and meticulously edit numerous photographs. The creative flow filled me with a sense of accomplishment, leaving me satisfied with the progress made.

As I reflect on this weekend, I can't help but feel a deep sense of fulfillment. The quote "a time spent with loved ones is a time well spent" resonates within my heart, for it accurately captures the essence of these past few days. Despite the rain dampening our original plans, we found solace and joy in each other's company, savoring shared meals, thrilling movies, and engaging in personal pursuits.
