On April 3, 2023, my family and I made our
final stop at Shikabe Roadside Station during the last day of our 3-day
"Birthday Road Trip." This also marked my 518th day in Japan as an ALT with the JET Programme. As part of our goal to visit all the roadside
stations in Hokkaido for our Hokkaido 179 challenge, we made sure to collect
stamps from each one. At Shikabe, we treated ourselves to delicious sesame soft
cream and got to witness the town’s famous geyser in action—a true highlight of
our visit to this charming town.
