Rumoi High School 2.13.2023 |
Today, I’m back to report for work at Rumoi High School. The students are now reviewing for the upcoming exams so I have one collaboration work today. I spent the day studying Japanese and also talking to my JTE about plans in the classroom.
Here’s my workload for today:
2nd period – Relative Pronoun 2 @ Motoyama-sensei

Ski Day for Ella @ Kamuiwa Park |
While I was working, my daughter was out skiing at Kamuiwa Park with the rest of her classmates at Midorigaoka Elementary School.
My wife on the other hand went to Rumoi Municipal Hospital for her monthly prenatal care checkup. Supposedly, we could identify the gender of our baby today but sadly the doctor wasn’t able to see it due to the positioning of the baby. Regardless, everything is normal and there is nothing to worry about.
Like yesterday, I didn’t have any collaboration work today so again I used my time to help some 3rd-year students with their essays and then studied Japanese in my free time.
TGIF! After four straight days in Rumoi High School, I’m finally visiting Tomamae Commercial High School. It’s my 30th visit for the school year 2022 – 2023. For this trip, I used my 1-day Moekko Free Ticket.
Here’s my workload for today:
2nd period – Listening Test @ 2nd year of Hasegawa-sensei
3rd period – Listening Test @ 1st year of Hasegawa-sensei
Overall, it was a productive work week for me. I visited Rumoi High School four times this week and Tomamae Commercial High School once. I’m looking forward to what the weekend has to offer. See you guys!

Day 470: February 14, 2023

Rumoi High School 2.14.2023 |
As I stepped into the school, there was a palpable energy in the air—it was the first day of the 4-day term exams for the students. The usual hum of collaboration work was conspicuously absent, offering me a rare day to navigate my own tasks and pursuits.

The faculty had a meeting and I stayed and guarded the room. 🤣 |
Embracing the opportunity, I dedicated a portion of my day to assisting a student with her essay. There's a unique joy in guiding young minds through the intricate maze of words, and I found it incredibly fulfilling. It's moments like these that remind me of the purpose and impact of my work. Overall, it was a productive day for me.
Day 471: February 15, 2023
Wednesday – Rumoi
Brrr, it's a frosty morning, with the temperature stubbornly holding at a bone-chilling -17 degrees. Today marks my return to Rumoi High School for another day of work, coinciding with the second day of the 4-day term exams for the students.
Much like yesterday, my schedule didn't involve any collaborative projects. Nevertheless, I seized the opportunity to make the most of my time. Engaging with the academic endeavors of the 3rd-year students, I devoted my attention to assisting them with their essays. There's a certain satisfaction that comes with guiding these young minds through the labyrinth of words, helping them refine their thoughts and express themselves with clarity.
During those precious moments of free time, I immersed myself in the intricate beauty of the Japanese language. Each character seemed to tell a story, weaving a narrative that transcends cultural boundaries. It's a journey of learning that I find both challenging and immensely rewarding.

It's another Ski Day for Ella. This time in Mashike. |

Thanks to Ella's Kyoto-sensei for guiding and taking care of her. |
On a different note, Ella had yet another exciting skiing adventure with her classmates. This time, their destination was the enchanting town of Mashike. I can't help but marvel at the experiences she's accumulating and the friendships blossoming amid snowy escapades.
Day 472: February 16, 2023
