Saturday – Osaka Solo Trip 2023 Day 1
Today marked the start of my solo adventure in Osaka, a four-day mix of leisure and purpose. The main goal of this trip was to personally submit important documents about Kai’s birth to the Philippine Consulate. The day began in Rumoi City (留萌市), filled with excitement and anticipation. Since my flight was scheduled in the afternoon, I spent the morning enjoying breakfast with my family, helping tidy up our car, Ruru, and finishing a few household chores. I wanted to make things easier for my wife while I was away.

Around 10 a.m., I finally left Rumoi and began my drive toward Sapporo. Along the way, I made short stops at the Rumoi Development and Construction Department, Obetsukari Disaster Prevention Station in the town of Mashike (増毛町) and at Ishikari Roadside Station in Ishikari City (石狩市). These brief breaks gave me time to stretch, relax, and appreciate the scenic Hokkaido landscape one last time before heading south.

Upon reaching Shinorocho District in Sapporo City (札幌市), I parked Ruru near my Filipino ALT friend’s house and walked about a kilometer to Takuhoku Station.

From there, I boarded the train bound for New Chitose Airport in Chitose City (千歳市). Since I still had plenty of time before my 5:15 PM flight, I wandered around the terminal, browsing through shops and buying omiyage at Royce Chocolate World for my Japanese family in Osaka.

The flight, MM114 from New Chitose Airport to Kansai International Airport Terminal 2, experienced a bit of turbulence, but the pilots handled it well. I found it amusing that this month’s edition of Peach Live featured Osaka, perfectly matching my destination.

When I landed at Kansai International Airport Terminal 2, I was warmly welcomed by Mr. Toshi and his wife, Ms. Taeko, who drove me to their home in Kumatori, Osaka. It felt wonderful to be back. Tired but happy, I enjoyed a comforting home-cooked dinner prepared by Mr. Toshi. I was too exhausted to take photos, but the meal was both delicious and satisfying.
As the evening went on, we spent hours talking about life, travel, and many other things. It was a simple yet meaningful night that set the perfect tone for the start of my Osaka trip.
