Week 110: December 4 – 8, 2023
Day 763: December 4, 2023
Monday – Rumoi

It’s a cold but clear Monday morning. It didn’t snow last night, and it was probably warmer as some of the snow melted a bit. This made some areas slippery. I slipped several times on my way to work, but thankfully, I didn’t fall. I’m back at Rumoi High School for today's school visit for my usual Monday schedule.
Here’s my workload for today: (Cancelled)
2nd period – Performance Task presentation @ 3-4 of Sengoku-sensei
5th period – Performance Task presentation @ 1-56 of Matsuda-sensei

| Classes were canceled after the first period, and the students were asked to go home |
However, after the first period, Kyoto-sensei called for an emergency meeting. All classes were canceled, and the students were asked to go home. This is because of the ongoing flu pandemic. It was so bad that one class only had 9 / 25 students present.

Rumoi High School also declared Tuesday and Wednesday to be “no class” days in response to this. Teachers, on the other hand, were expected to work.

| Movie night: Mamasapanao Now it Can Be Told |
Before calling it a day, I watched the 2022 film Mamasapano: Now It Can Be Told. The film tried its best to faithfully tell the story of what happened during and after the tragic SAF mission that took 44 SAF lives. If it had a bigger budget, it probably would have had better cinematography.
Day 764: December 5, 2023
Tuesday – Rumoi

It’s another ward day. This further melted the snow that accumulated last week. It also gave me hope that my wife’s lost phone would finally emerge from its snowy grave and someone would be able to find it and surrender it to the police.
For today’s school visit, I’m heading back to Rumoi High School. There were no classes due to the three-day flu pandemic class suspension. Since teachers were required to report to work, I spent my time studying Japanese and updating my lesson files.
Day 765: December 6, 2023
Wednesday – Haboro

It’s a sunny winter day here in Rumoi. Now, there is less and less snow on the streets. For today’s school visit, I’m heading to Haboro High School. It’s my 16th visit for SY 2023 – 2024. For this trip, I used my 2-day Skip Moekko Free Ticket.

When I got home, my wife and I stayed up late to join the Fast Food Tournament of Cooking Fever.

Thursday – Embetsu

I got to sleep around 2 AM today, as we had a tough competition in the Fast Food Tournament of Cooking Fever. Regardless, we did our best and we were able to gain the lead and win the tournament.

For today’s school visit, I’m heading to Embetsu Agricultural High School. It’s my 20th visit for the school year 2023-2024. For this trip, I used my 1-day Moekko Free Ticket.

| Movie night: Hard Days |
Before calling it a day, we watched the 2023 Japanese film Hard Days. It’s a remake of the 2014 Korean film A Hard Day. The remake has minor changes to fit the Japanese taste. My wife wasn’t a big fan of it, but I found the film enjoyable as it is as thrilling as the original. Overall, I recommend it if you haven’t watched the original yet.
Day 767: December 8, 2023
Friday – Tomamae

It’s a cold, windy day. I’m off to Tomamae Commercial High School for today's school trip for my usual Friday school visit. It’s my 22nd visit for the School Year 2023 – 2024. For this trip, I used my 2-Day Skip Moekko Free Ticket.

While waiting for the bus going to Uehira, I was surprised to see hundreds of crows flying above the town. You can check out the video below.
Overall, this week, I visited Rumoi High School, Haboro High School, Embetsu Agricultural High School, and Tomamae Commercial High School. Again, it was a very productive week for me. I’m always looking forward to seeing my JTEs and the students from different visiting schools.
