Weekend 108: November 25 – 26, 2023
Day 754: November 25, 2023
Saturday – Rumoi
Today was a freezing morning in Rumoi City, with temperatures dropping to -6°C. Despite the biting cold, we went out to accomplish a list of errands. After enjoying a hearty breakfast, we bundled up and set off on our journey.

Kai was asleep the whole time
Our first stop was unexpectedly at DCM. It wasn’t part of our original plan, but the snow we kept dragging into the car with our shoes had started to become troublesome. To solve this, we decided to buy a rubber mat to make it easier to remove snow and prevent unpleasant odors from a wet floor mat.

There was suddenly a blizzard on our way to our next destination
With that sorted, we headed to MaxValu to buy groceries. My wife swears by MaxValu’s vegetables, saying they’re more affordable than in other grocery stores around the city. After quickly gathering a few essentials, we continued to Jabba Laundromat to dry our laundry—a simple yet satisfying errand.

Grocery time at COOP
Before heading home, we made one last stop at COOP to buy the remaining groceries we had missed earlier. COOP has become our go-to store not only because it’s close to home but also because of its Chocoto Point Card, which lets us earn points every time we shop. We also often find half-priced items—especially meat and seafood—which makes every visit a pleasant surprise.

Movie night: Nowhere
In the evening, after a delicious dinner, we settled in to watch the 2023 film Nowhere. As a parent, I found it especially touching; the protagonist’s struggles mirrored the emotions and challenges that come with parenthood.
Before calling it a night, I worked on the new Kamalayang Panlipunan series for Abiva Publishing House. It was a productive end to a full day. Reflecting on everything, I was reminded of the importance of adaptability and finding joy in simple things. Despite the cold, we managed to stay productive and discover warmth through family moments and purposeful work.
Day 755: November 26, 2023
Sunday – Rumoi
It was another freezing morning here in Rumoi City, and unlike yesterday, we decided to stay home and take it easy.

I worked on my new Kamalayang Panlipunan book
I dedicated most of the day to researching and writing for the new Kamalayang Panlipunan book series. Writing can be both mentally and physically draining, so I took short breaks in between to spend time with my children.

Movie night: No One Gets Out Alive, Thor: Love and Thunder, Hostel Part III
After finishing several units, my daughter and I decided to unwind with a movie marathon. We started with the 2021 horror-mystery film No One Gets Out Alive, which wasn’t as scary as expected but managed to keep us guessing. Next was Thor: Love and Thunder—as a superhero movie fan, I found it disappointing that it leaned too much on comedy, though Christian Bale’s portrayal of Gorr was outstanding. We ended with the 2011 film Hostel: Part III, and honestly, I wished I had chosen to sleep instead.
All in all, this weekend was both productive and fulfilling. We managed to complete our errands, I made significant progress on my writing, and we still found time for family bonding. Even with the cold weather ahead, I’m looking forward to what the next week will bring.
