Day 658: August 21, 2023

Monday – Rumoi

Rumoi High School 8.21.23

It's the beginning of my 95th week in Rumoi as an ALT with the JET Programme. The weather forecast predicts a mostly cloudy morning, followed by sunshine in the afternoon. Today, I'll be heading to my main school, Rumoi High School, as part of my regular Monday visit schedule.

Rumoi High School English Club

After classes, we had the Rumoi High School English Club. We spent it editing and improving the essays and script for the contest.

Day 659: August 22, 2023

Tuesday - Rumoi

Rumoi High School 8.22.23

It’s going to be a hot sunny day today according to the weather forecast, but thankfully it was cool and cloudy in the morning. That’s why I was able to bike to Rumoi High School for work.

Saw these in COOP

I attend the Rumoi English Chat Club at Asuka

After work, my family and I went to COOP to buy groceries. After that, I headed to Asuka to attend the Rumoi English Chat Club. It has been almost 3 months since I last attended the club. The topic was “How did you spend this summer?” Today, I met the new Rumoi ALT - Whitney. She has an "interesting" personality.

Day 660: August 23, 2023

Wednesday – Haboro

Haboro High School 6.23.23

It’s a very hot day with temperatures expected to reach 35 degrees. Today, I’m heading to Haboro High School. It’s my 6th visit for the school year 2023 – 2024. I used my 2-day Skip Moekko Free Ticket.

Here’s my workload today:

2nd period – My Summer Vacation @ 2nd year of Okumura-sensei
3rd period – My Summer Vacation @ 3rd year of Okumura-sensei

I was scheduled to have classes with Watanabe-sensei in the 5th and 6th period, but the Board of Education declared that students should be sent home by 12:30. This is due to the cases of students fainting or suffering from dehydration in different parts of the prefecture.

My first article featured in the Manila Bulletin - "Unveiling Hokkaido's Hidden Gem"

What makes today incredibly special is the publication of my article about Hokkaido in the Manila Bulletin. This marks my first opportunity to have my work featured in a broadsheet publication.

Day 661: August 24, 2023

Thursday – Teshio

Teshio High School 8.24.23

It’s another hot day today, but it’s not as hot as yesterday. For today’s business trip, I’m heading to Teshio High School. It’s my 10th visit for the school year 2023 – 2024. For this trip, I’m using my 1-day Moekko Free Ticket.

Enjoying the breeze at Rumoi Golden Beach

That evening, when I got back home, my family and I decided to head out to get some fresh air, as it was very humid at home. We went to Rumoi Golden Beach. While enjoying the cool breeze, we watched the Netflix docuseries Depp V Heard. It was good at first, but as we got to the last episode, it suddenly turned biased to one party, and there were also a lot of important details left out in favor of one camp. It was one of the worst documentaries that I have watched so far.

Day 662: August 25, 2023

Friday – Teshio

Teshio High School 8.25.23

It’s a cloudy day with scattered rain showers, according to the weather forecast. For today’s business trip, I will be heading to Teshio High School again. It’s my 11th visit for the School Year 2023 – 2024. For this trip, I’m using my 2-day Skip Moekko Free Ticket.

It was rainy while I was on the bus going back to Rumoi

Overall, it was a very humid week. In a way, I miss the coldness of winter. As for my work, I visited Rumoi High School, Haboro High School, and Teshio High School this week. I’m looking forward to what this weekend has to offer.
