Day 616: July 10, 2023

Monday – Rumoi x Free Day

It’s a sunny Monday morning. A beautiful way to start the week. Today, I won’t be reporting for work as it is a free day because we were asked to report for work last Saturday for the Rumoi High School Festival 2023.

I went to Rumoi City Hall to apply for Kai's paperwork

I spent the morning cleaning the house and doing the laundry. Afterward, I headed to the Japan Post Rumoi Office in the Honcho district of the city to pick up the “Shusshou todoke” file and my wife’s passport to be used in the application for Kai’s residence card and registration of birth.

From there, I drove back to Rumoi High School to finish some work and also kill time because I will meet up with Alaina at 2 PM at the Rumoi City Hall to submit the “Shusshou todoke” and also apply for the copies of the Residence Certificate, Resident Tax Certificate, and Resident Tax Payment Certificate which will be used to register Kai in the future.

It was a long process, and I’m very thankful that Alaina was there to help me translate things, which made the application easier.

That evening, when I got back home, Ella and I binge-watched Season 6 of Black Mirror. Some were good, like Joan is Awful and Beyond the Sea, but I didn’t feel the Demon 79.

Day 617: July 11, 2023

Tuesday – Rumoi

Rumoi High School 7.11.23

I’m back reporting to Rumoi High School after the free day yesterday. I feel refreshed and well-rested. However, it’s very humid, and by noon, I was super sleepy. Ironically, all my collab works were scheduled in the afternoon so I feel that I wasn’t able to give my 100 percent.

Speaking of collab works, here’s my workload for today:

4th period – Food Culture @ 1-34 of Matsuda-sensei
5th period – Practice lesson using the Flip App @ 1-56 of Matsuda-sensei

"Wakataka" Tour

After work, Ella and I drove to Rumoi Port because of the special event where the public is allowed to board and tour the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force Patrol Guided Missile Boat PG-825 “Wakataka”.

Believe it or not, it has been quite a while since I have seen a rainbow

Ella wanted to try this seasonal drink

From there, before heading back home, we went to Sukiya for dinner. Overall, today was a good mix of work and Daddy and Ella bonding time. I’m looking forward to more of this in the future.

Overall, it was mostly rainy. I visited Rumoi High School, Obira Special Needs School, Haboro High School, and Teshio High School this week. It was a tiring week, but thankfully, I have another long weekend coming, thanks to the Marine Day holiday on Monday. Aside from that, I'm also thankful to Mr. Toshi for always sending me photos and updating me about my wife and son.
