Day 509: March 25, 2023
Saturday – Fukagawa x Asahikawa Road Trip
First stop of the day: Ebata Dental Clinic |
Off to another road trip |
We started off the day with my dental appointment at Ebata Dental Clinic in the morning, but that didn't dampen our mood for the trip ahead. After I was finished, my wife and daughter picked me up, and we were on our way.
Aside from the museum, there is a library inside |
My wife, KC, checks out the exhibits in the museum |
Some of the costumes for the Tadoshi Lion Dance |
Our first stop was in
Fukagawa City (深川市), where we first visited the
Fukagawa City Historical Museum. The museum gave us a fascinating look into the city’s past, showcasing old tools, photos, and even taxidermied animals that showed how Fukagawa City was during earlier times.
At
Okuni Shrine, we were amazed by its serene beauty and traditional architecture. The peaceful surroundings and the carefully maintained grounds made it a perfect place to relax and reflect. The shrine also plays an important role in local traditions, adding to its charm. We took plenty of pictures to remember the museum’s displays and the shrine’s timeless beauty. Fukagawa City was a perfect mix of history, culture, and peaceful scenery, making it a memorable part of our trip.
We filled up Ruru at Moda Asahikawa Daiba Branch before continuing on our way |
WB/SB |
Sukeyasu Building |
Statue of Seven Lucky Gods |
After that, we drove to Asahikawa City (旭川市), where I had a special request to visit some sites where the Japanese drama series First Love was filmed. Fortunately, my wife was happy to oblige, and we visited WB/SB and the Sukeyasu Building, both iconic locations in the show.
2nd Street Toko Shop |
We got Ella a new randoseru |
2nd Street Omachi Shop |
While my wife and I shopping for clothes, Ella enjoyed playing the demo games at GEO |
2nd Street Nagayama Kanno Shop |
But our main goal for the day was to visit the 2nd Street shops in Asahikawa City. We visited the Toko Shop, Omachi Shop, and Nagayama Kanno Shop, where we found some great bargains and unique souvenirs to take home with us.
Our last stop for the day in Asahikawa City: McDonald's |
Here's our late lunch |
By the time we finished, we were all feeling a little hungry, and we decided to grab a late lunch/early dinner at McDonald's before hitting the road again.
It's cleaning time |
On the drive back, we made a stop at Maxvalu Rumoi to buy ingredients for tomorrow's food supplies before heading to the 24-hour coin-operated car wash at Chidoricho to clean Ruru, our trusty car.
It was a long and tiring day, but we had a great time exploring different cities and discovering some of their hidden gems. We were all looking forward to continuing our adventure south tomorrow. Stay tuned for more updates!Read more:
