Saturday – A Day in Sapporo

Good morning, everyone. Today is one of the final few days of our Winter Vacation. Today, we intend to see Sapporo City before returning to Rumoi City. But first, we enjoyed our complimentary breakfast at the Comfort Hotel Sapporo.

After our scrumptious meal, we returned to our room to make our final preparations before checking out. In a way, it was really nice to have an extra day of rest here in Sapporo instead of heading straight home after our flight as it gave us that "one last vacation day" feeling.

We walked from the hotel to Susukino Station and purchased the Donichika Ticket. We boarded the subway train bound for Odori Station. We then changed to a train bound for Oyachi Station. Ella and I made sure to obtain the station's eki stamp for our stamp collection before leaving the station.

We're finally back at Sapporo Station after more than an hour of shopping

We proceeded to Super 2nd Street Oyachi for our first main destination of the day to search for ski pants for Ella and to purchase any treasure we could find. We probably spent more than an hour going back and forth between the different aisles before we decided to head back to Sapporo Station.

Our experience did not finish there, as we still had plenty of time before our scheduled bus ride to Rumoi City. Hence, we went to see some of the filming locations of the hit 2022 Japanese drama First Love. The first destination that Ella and I visited was the Sapporo Station taxi bay just outside the Sapporo JR Station.

From there, we used our Donichika Ticket to ride the subway to Horohirabashi Station. After this, we walked to the nearby Horohira Bridge.

Nakajima Park

Our next destination is the Nakajimakoen Station. We went to Nakajima Park and searched for the different spots where the drama was shot, such as the Sapporo City Observatory and the subway station entrance. We got tired of walking around Nakajima Park, so we decided to visit one last destination before wrapping up our adventure.

We boarded the subway from Nakajimakoen Station going to Odori Station. From there, we walked to the Odori Park Overpass to take pictures of it. We didn’t stay long, though; we boarded the train back as soon as we got the picture that we wanted. We reached Sapporo Station with still an hour left.

Since one hour was still a significant amount of time, we decided to eat an early dinner. We went to the McDonald’s on the basement floor of Sapporo Station to buy a Samurai burger and see what the hype was all about. To be honest, it’s not that outstanding but still definitely a must-try.

Our bus arrived on the dot and left Sapporo Station at 6 PM. We arrived safely home in Rumoi City a little past 8 PM.

Overall, our adventures for this winter vacation officially wrap up today. Thankfully, one day is left before I head back and report to work. We would surely use it to rest and condition ourselves so that our work life would resume.

Hiking Mt. Gulugod Baboy

Our adventure today takes us to a mountain south of Metro Manila. Mt. Gulugod Baboy  (other variations Mt. Gulugod-Baboy ) is located in Anilao, Mabini in the province of Batangas. Akashi Kaikyo Bridge - Hyogo

Connecting the island of Awaji and Kobe City which are both in Hyogo Prefecture, Akashi Kaikyo Bridge  ( 明石海峡大橋 )  is the longest bridge in Japan to date.  Akashi Kaikyo Bridge History Prior to the construction of the  Akashi Kaikyo Bridge , ferries carried passengers across the Akashi Strait. However, the strait is known to be a dangerous waterway that already took countless lives. The most famous of which was in 1955 when two ferries sank in the strait during a storm. This tragedy claimed 168 lives and was said to be what convinced the Japanese government to develop plans to construct a bridge. Tenryuji - Kyoto

Located in 68 Susukinobaba-cho, Saga-Tenryuji, Ukyo-ku, Kyoto City in Kyoto Prefecture, Tenryuji ( 天龍寺 )  is one of the 17 UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Kyoto City. Tenryuji  ( 天龍寺 ) Tenryuji History Tenryuji was built under the instructions of shogun Ashikaga Takauji in 1339 in memory of Emperor Go-Daigo who had passed away that year. The temple's name tenryu  literally translates to the "dragon of the sky". The name came from a dream of Ashikaga Takauji's younger brother Tadayoshi.
