Takinoue (滝上町) is a laidback town located in the Okhotsk Subprefecture of Hokkaido, Japan, renowned for its pink moss, or shibazakura. In the Ainu language, the area is referred to as Ponkamuikotan, meaning "Village of the Small Gods." The name Takinoue, which translates to "Above the Waterfall," was given by the first Japanese settlers who established the town upstream from a waterfall.
