Cavite Adventure: Tagaytay City

Tagaytay City

Tagaytay City details

Our adventure today takes us about 55 kilometers south of Kilometer 0 in Manila. Tagaytay City is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the province of Cavite.

Taal Volcano as seen from Tagaytay City

Known as "The Country's Second Summer Capital", Tagaytay City's proximity to Manila makes it a frequent destination for those who are on a budget adventure or those who are just escaping the city life. Tagaytay City's unique blend of beautiful scenery and semi-temperate climate makes tourists and adventurers come back for more.

My friends and my old ride

Since my wife and I live near Tagaytay City, we have the convenience of going there anytime we want to. I, for one, have been to Tagaytay plenty of times and experienced a lot of memorable things there. The most unforgettable one that I have was when I experienced zero visibility when I drove through a very thick mist that blanketed the city during one of my road trips. Because my car then was a lowered version of a Mazda Astina, the right side fell on a meter-deep gutter which momentarily trapped the car. Lucky for me there were only a few cars (and buses) on the street that day.

My wife and I with our new ride

Tagaytay City would always have a place in my heart (and travel list) because that is the only place that I would want to go to when I'm stressed and I'm at my lowest point.

The picturesque view of Taal Lake from Tagaytay

Well at least when I visit Tagaytay City now, I won't mind going into a thick mist or falling into a meter-deep gutter because my new ride would probably handle all of those. (Except a cliff plunge of course.)

  2. My Hubby & I are already booked at Hotel Dominique in Tagaytay this September for our Anniversary and I am searching for bus & jeepney fares on google and i found your blog :) this really helps a lot, I just have a question if you gonna ride the jeepney you will just ask if they can get you to the place you wanted to go too? for example "Manong Pink Sisters Convent nga po?" will that work? LOL my first time to commute in tagaytay before we rent some cars but it's kinda expensive nowadays. Thanks in Advance!

    1. Hi Jengie! Advanced happy anniversary to you guys!
Yup that's correct most Tagaytay residents are kind enough to give you info on places you want to visit. You could ask the jeepney driver if he's passing by your desired destination. If not ask him what to ride. =)

      1. Sky Ranch
      2. Paradizoo
      3. Bag of Beans (for lunch)
I'm sad to say na walang place na di matao sa Tagaytay unless it's a week day.
Last mo nang puntahan ang Picnic Grove and People's Park since nasa kabilang side yun ng Tagaytay.

Regarding sa Mass schedule on a week day I'm not sure but I know na bukas ang simbahan. =)
I hope that helps Angelique. =)

So here's a list of affordable hotels pero you'd probably need to ride a jeep heading to Sky Ranch.
      Tagaytay Haven Hotel
      Elegant Star Apartelle
      Tagaytay Econo Inn
      Sierra Traveler's Inn

    1. Hi there! Medyo challenging ata ang side trip niyo ah. =)
      Pero sige try this one.
From Tagaytay, look for a bus or van heading to Batangas City bus terminal. From there may mga jeepney na papuntang Mabini.
If wala naman, may mga jeep or trike that will bring you to Talisay Batangas. From there look for a jeepney to Lipa. From there ride another public transpo to Mabini.
Pero if gusto mo talaga maka-punta and sure shot na may direct na masasakyan kailangan mo talagang bumalik sa Pasay (Gil Puyat) dun may bus na direct to Batangas City. (Check out my blog about Sombrero Island).
      Hope this one helps. =)

    2. Hello. We are planning to go to Tagaytay (especially Sky Ranch) this coming May. I have a question when it comes to time management. Is it possible that we can enjoy all the rides there and heading up to other destinations like picnic grove, people's park etc.? And is 4500 (2pax) enough? (including transpo and meals)? We are on a day tour plan only. Can you suggest an itinerary for us with the given time and budget. Thank you so much

      Delete
    3. Hi there! Malaki na yung 4500 for 2 pax for a day tour. If Sky Ranch lang ang goal niyo then kaya ang half a day dun. I suggest you visit sky ranch mga lunch time or after ng lunch para di ganun kainit. You could spend the early hours at Picnic grove. I don't suggest na pumunta pa kayo sa People's Park unless may kotse kayo.

Here's whay I suggest... Picnic Grove - Puzzle Museum or Residence Inn Zoo then cap it off sa Sky Ranch. Regarding breakfast, lunch, dinner there are plenty of restos to choose from. Hope this helps.

tanong ko lang kung same parin kaya yung rates and if coming from quezon city saan kaya may bus going to tagaytay?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Thanks so much! =)
About the rates kung may changes po minimal lang po. It you're heading from QC meron "daw" mga buses sa Cubao that goes to Batangas. The tricky part is knowing what goes thru Tagaytay City.
I suggest you go with the tried and tested. Head to Coastal Mall from there hop on a bus heading to Nasugbu. (Meron ding Tagaytay lang ang destination).
      I hope that helps.

    1. Hi there since 3K lang ang ang budget mo I believe solo backpacking ka. Well If hangang 4PM ka lang siguro you could visit either Sky Ranch or Picnic Grove and spend your time there. Maganda yung dalawang yun kasi there are plenty of things to do there. If relaxation lang din pwede mo lang enjoying ang view and magpalamig without spending.

Given that you're already in Tagaytay, I think ok na yung 1k for food and pasyal. Pero sobrang liit nun if overnight. Aside from that yung kain niyo is limited din sa P100 per meal.

ok na siguro yung 3K na budget pax. Sobra pa yun kung tutuusin.
